The mushrooms don't smell like they should and they look very dark.
Good dried porcini mushrooms have a wonderful aroma, these don't smell like mushrooms at all. I had bought Roland dried porcinis in the past and they were very good so I paid for shipping and couple dollars more to get these. I am very disappointed.

Highly recommend to those who wants real mushrooms.
Roland dried porcini mushrooms is a great product, exactly what I expected: both taste and smell! I grew up in France, then lived in Canada where we used to pick up wild mushrooms and knew which ones to choose!

Quality Has Degraded...
I used to buy these mushrooms every year - they'd last about that long and they were great in soups, pot roasts and stews.Dried porcini can be ugly and gritty but if they have that fabulous knock-your-socks-off aroma I have no complaints. If you grew up with these you don't mind munching on a bit of sand. The last jar I ordered was a disappointment - the supplier snuck in quite a few pieces of bitter, inedible boletes. There are species which are not consumed because of their extreme bitterness. You won't die if you eat a bit of those but they will ruin your meal. In particular, I prepared a lovely pot roast in my Instantpot and it turned out horribly bitter - nasty bitterness infused the meat and I had to throw it all out. From then I resorted to sampling every porcini bit to see if it was ok. That didn't last long - the disgusting bitter taste was revolting and I just threw the rest away. I'm searching for a new source!

Two Stars
A Lot of sand in the mushrooms so you need to wash them properly before use!

Dry Porcini Mushrooms
The product is fine, but its presentation was incomplete. You should have written, 'Caps with stems'; that would have served as explanation for other 'Porcini's higher price.

Have not tried yet
I'll let you know when I get around to it. Price was a bit high but a lot better than store-bought.

Finally Porcinis
Looked all over for these mushrooms in all the specialty stores in San Diego. Couldn't find them anywhere. I then thought of Amazon. Thank you for having these on line. We were able to make some Italian recipes for the holidays.

Not fresh - smells sour - no resemblance to rich ...
Not fresh - smells sour - no resemblance to that special flavorful "mushroommy" porcini smell - lots of powder at the bottom of this jar – some pieces are very dark - assuming very old - no expiration date nor date of the collection - and the last thing Jar marked " PRODUCT OF CHINA/YUGOSLAVIA. ( see picture)Country Yugoslavia disappeared from the map in 1992.Do not waist your money
