The interior mechanism of this ventilator is poorly engineered and fragile. It broke before my husband, who is a licensed building contractor, got it fully installed. Don't waste your money on this product.

Vents typically need pressure to freshen or expel air. This vent passively freshens the air and in use, the effects are noticeable. Certainly not a quick exchange of fresh versus stale air, but slow and steady. Recommended for versatility.

I may be over critical, but when I read the product description, "It uses the pressure difference generated by natural forces to introduce fresh outdoor air into the room and exhaust the indoor polluted air." , I expected that when the pressure differences were great enough, the vent would then open to equalize the pressure. Instead, the vent must be manually closed or opened. The install instructions were straightforward, but might be difficult to accomplish depending on how much space you have to work in.Finally, the product appeared to be nicely made. That appearance turned out to be deceptive, since as I handled it, the sharp edge of the metal vent cap put about a 1 inch long cut in my finger.

I'm installing a radon vent and where you pull air out at some point it has your come in. This gives control over where that happens so I get a flow of air from across thr basement while avoiding rodent entry. The old way with wire mesh on pvc pipe seems crude compared to this finished product.
