I FELT UNCLEAN BY THE END
A bit of agony getting through this one -- perhaps a lesson in dealing with uniformly unlikeable characters. And a uniformly diluted story line. The procedural genre has gone through some incredible expansion these past few years and ToL deserves recognition for moving things along. But the weak pun at work in the title is perhaps our biggest reward here. That and a few gags from a displaced German "scholar" pulling a caper motivated by some sense of social justice. Who's knows? Whatever is worthwhile about China Girl is lost in tepid direction, unfocused writing, improbable events -- I'm thinking the of Bondi beach sequence in particular -- massive cracks in continuity and often painful, plentiful, over-acting. The love scenes take me back to an old Mitchell and Webb skit, the punch line being "Now we know"...O, and my wife says it's even worse than that.

Great series that keeps you watching
Again a great series for 'Top of the Lake'. This one did not grab me as much as the first one as I missed the dramatic scenery (New Zealand). Still, the storyline was excellent, with challenging moments and unexpected twists and turns, and the acting was again awe inspiring.
