Beautifully written book!
What a sensational book for children and adults as well. I read this to my third grade class, and such deep and rich conversations sprung up from many angles. The children and I were able to share many common stories about the topics. It’s so good that the topics of multiculturalism and mixed race families were secondary to a wonderful story about a strong grandma. The educational aspects and etiquette tips are also a bonus! My children absolutely loved the illustrations as well and could really interpret emotions through the art. I want to share it with so many people!

A lovely, heartwarming and educational read
Mixed With Love is a heartwarming and educational story about a mixed-race family. Handling the subject in a very delicate way, the book shows a few of the challenges faced by families of mixed race and underscores the fact that families don't always "look" the same. While it is a children's book, the book's message rings true for adults as well. A must-read for all!

Great story that applies to every day life!
I read this story with my 5 year old and she was able to follow along easily, while allowing me to be able to talk about the story afterwards and open the dialogue about what happened throughout the story and why. Great learning experience for anyone who’s not faced this type of situation. It allows you to walk In someone else’s shoes to gain more understanding what it’s like to come from a family mixed with love!!! Would definitely recommend!!

A must read children's book for children and adults facing scrutiny of mixed races families.
I loved this book very much. Cathy Maxey Brown did a wonderful job telling the story of families facing the social issue of raising children of mixed races. Love the bold print. A great read for all ages. The grandma in the story is a beautiful example of love, caring, understanding, a prime example to adults and children facing the public scrutiny of mixed with love families. I will recommend this book to everyone I know.

Sensational!!!
What a beautifully written story that will touch home with so many families and with my extended family as well! Family is LOVE no matter how you mix it!! ❤️ I am so excited to read this book to my kindergarten class! I have plenty of “mixed with love” kiddos in my room!I want to also touch on a text feature… the dialogue is bolded in the quotation marks so it makes it easy to point out to my students that characters are talking! The variety of sentence starters also has me mind blown, it is so elegantly written but in a way kids will understand! “He braced himself for another comment about how he didn’t belong”My favorite part… (nope, I won’t spoil it for you!) is on page 19!Click add to cart and order your book today, you won’t regret it!!!***I’ll add another review that my students will have to write after I read it to them!

A great story for kids and grandparents
Transracial families can use this book to help their kids + family members find the words to say when inevitably asked questions from strangers. These kiddos just want to feel “normal” and fit in. Empowering them with this book will help them to know what to say.
