Product doesn’t live up to expectations made by the company
This product is terrible. The grass barely grows and all you are left with is an ugly greenish by product that blows around and the neighbors complain about it when it gets in their lawn. Don’t waste your money.

I am Amazed
Its been only 6 days since I installed the mat and i will say that i am pleased with the results so far. I have 2 dogs that dig holes in my yard, I have been trying to grow grass in the area for months and its been difficult, i have cultivated and thrown seeds on the ground and watered and nothing but this mat was like a what the heck let me try it sort of project and I am pleasantly surprised to see baby Grass growing in that area i am excited to see what 2 weeks and 5 weeks looks like. I do have to say the instructions call for watering everyday 2-3x a day but honestly sometimes i get to busy for the 2nd and 3rd watering and just water once. My yard recieves alot of heavy sun light so to really see results my advice is patients and dedication to watering if not it will not work. Update: its been 3 weeks and i do see it working not as plush as I'd like it but hopefully in 3 more weeks it will thicken up. 4 month update...I have Grass, thick grass and the summer rain has also contributed to helping water the areas. I don't know about others but I would used this again if necessary.

Not sure if worth it
It was easy to put down but nothing growing. It’s been 3 weeks and I had rainy days n sunny days. Texture and appearance was just like picture but nothing growing.

Does work, but not consistent results yet.
I like the idea on how to patch up your yard. It starts to grow within 2 weeks. But not perfect. Still working on what works best. Tried to lay it down without any prep. It did work but not the full results I wanted. Tried cultivating the yard first and then laying it down, so far it is working but still do not have a full result to review. This last time I cultivated the ground and put some topsoil down then laid down the growtrax. Again too early to see how the results will turn out but it is growing within a week and a half. Will continue tp purchase and keep trying.

Grows great if you can keep it in place and water it regularly
I covered my whole yard in this stuff based upon a successful trial with a smaller area. The main thing to know is that if you are in a windy area, you are going to be babysitting and repositioning this stuff daily until it sprouts. Any serious wind and it becomes a kite and blows all over. If you are doing what you are supposed to be doing and keeping it damp, you then have to be extremely careful to get it back in position without destroying it, as it basically loses all structural integrity when it is wet, and walking on it will also destroy or put holes in it if the underlying soil is soft, so it is really a challenge to keep it in position. Overall, to do it again, and even now as I stare at my rolls which overnight were blown all over the yard - about 2000 sqft or over 700 dollars of material - I would just cover it all in a half inch of topsoil. This will keep birds from eating it, make it germinate and grow more quickly, and retain water a bit better so it would not require multiple waterings per day to stay damp. If you cover it with a bit of dirt, and keep it moist, you will have excellent results. Otherwise, just buy some sod and be done with it. I mean, it is really a sort of disaster when you wake up at 5am and look at your yard and have a bunch of stuff to do before work and you realize that you have to get out there and do an hour of grass seed roll repositioning and rehabilitation or your $3000 lawn project is going to look like hammered feces. These people really did not think through what any sort of wind at all will do to an installation without some sort of soil holding it down. Kind of a major oversight. I support US businesses and this is made in Santa Barbara, but come ON guys! You are seriously sinking my battleship over here. Get with the program and tell people how to make this stuff work. Topsoil, topsoil, topsoil. The turf is really nice once it gets going, but this is ridiculous.

Growtrax fast lawn repair. Yeah Right!
I had high hopes when I bought two rolls of Growtrax Biodegradable Grass Seed Mat. The website suggest that this product could easily repair and regrow grass in patchy areas of your lawn. It’s made of grass and fertilizer placed in a green, foamy, biodegradable mat. All you need to do is measure the area, cut the mat, and water it. The water melts the mat to the ground, preventing wind and rain from lifting it. The site shows examples of photos of lush areas before and after examples using this product. They even claimed it could grow on a metal surface and suggested it be used for the entire lawn, which I strongly advise against. Recently, I installed a vinyl fence in my backyard, leaving behind vacant clay dirt areas along the base of the fence line. I thought Growtrax Seed Mat would be a great solution to fix these areas, so I bought two rolls that cover 100 feet along the base of the fence. I rolled out the mat and kept it watered. Three weeks later, I had very little to no growth. The result was a speckled white strip of biodegradable paper with hardly any grass. I was disappointed and dissatisfied with the results, as I had expected some growth, as claimed on the company’s website. I felt like I was being scammed and ripped off. I wouldn’t recommend using this product because it doesn’t work as the company suggests it does. I definitely wouldn’t suggest using it on your entire lawn.

Easy Grass Repair
So far so good. Was hesitant about giving this a try. After a week of watering the baby grass is coming up. Did as the label advised. Prepared the soil (sand) tapped soil down , laid the rolled seed and watered. Will say this fabric does come apart easily and in some places had to put a few pieces over bare spots. Other than that was easy project. Recommend giving a try.
