Failing Up: How to Take Risks, Aim Higher, and Never Stop Learning

This was very informative and catchy. I liked how he wasn’t afraid to talk about the lack of enthusiasm and how that can be a hindrance for some of us when wanting to achieve our goals. I highlighted a lot of quotes that caught my attention and some that I can identify with.My rating scale is as follows. The books that I do finish that I give 1-3 stars are books that I thought I was going to enjoy or it's popular books but I however didn't like it. I also rate DNF books as 1.My usual ratings are 3.5 and above. For the 3.5 ratings, these are books that I was able to finish, had me engaged the whole time, but the ending just threw everything off. One of my 3.5 ratings is My Sister the Serial Killer and Riot Baby. I didn't like the ending and after I finished the book, I had so many questions.My 4 star rating is a book I thoroughly enjoyed but won't read it again. This will be a book that though I enjoyed it, I don't need to re-read because in one take, it gave me everything I needed. An example of a 4 star book is One of Us is Lying and The Deep. My 5 star rating is all the books I will re-read. These are books I would highly recommend, re read it in my spare time, etc.

Reading Leslie Odom Jr.’s book was like having multiple conversations with a mentor that is sharing their life lessons. I identified with so many of the lessons he shared and appreciated his take on life experiences. It definitely confirmed many of my feelings about life events. Highly recommend for anyone looking for personal development and empowerment of understanding that everything they need is already within them. They just have to have faith and in Leslie’s words, give themself “permission to fail.”

As a fellow Tartan, I have enjoyed watching Mr. Odom perform for years, on both the small and big screen—as well as a holiday concert before Covid at the Kennedy Center. This book has a lot of good advice, I bought additional copies to share with colleagues—not a time consuming read, well worth the effort.

Motivational and not boring.

Leslie Odom Junior is an amazing talent. This is insight into his journey to the artist he is today. Riveting.

Leslie is a talented and intelligent artist who tells us the story of his journey through the global success of his dreams. Taken on a trip down memory lane and into the green room of history making was a delightful reminder to give myself the license to fail up. I’m sure to listen to this volume again with the same glee and excitement as I did the first time through. Enjoy!

This is a great book! Inspirational. I never heard of the author before I purchased. I needed a good motivational book and decided to go with it based on the Amazon reviews. I actually purchased this book in Mar 2018 and after sitting almost two years, decided to bring it along for a plane ride. After four days, I just finished this book. It really spoke to me at this point In my life so I feel I read it at just the right time. Aside from the message, I loved the layout of this book. Very much a page turnover, an read and I felt the length of the book was just right!

I bought this book in NEW condition, and it arrived with a Sharpie marker spot along the pages and a big spot where a sticker once was on the cover. Ok fine, a mistake - I returned it and got a refund. I just reordered it, and the SAME THING happened again!! This will be going back. Why pay for new condition when you clearly get a used book?! Buyer beware!
