These work great if you need an auto punch. I put one in my toolbox at home and the other one in my toolbox at work.

I love these things. I ordered a two pack, one for the bench and one over by the drill press. I'd never had one of the spring loaded ones. Push down and the punch does the punching, without a hammer.

Works well not the nicest center punch I've ever used, but fairly good quality for the price. If you adjust it they are strong enough to punch through a common construction shim and into the second shim if that gives you an idea.
