Lumberjack Romance
This is the first book I have read by this author and really enjoyed it. I read a lot of small town romances but this was a bit different in that the town was suffering from economic decline and so the story wasn't as cutesy as some. Henri was grumpy but loyal and Alice was a plus sized new school principal and sparks certainly fly. Looking forward to reading more in this series.

Get little read
Really enjoyed this. I usually read dark romance and this little gem was a great in between read.Low angst, no OW drama , loving the slight suspense that will probably be exposed through the series... Can't wait!

great book but rushed ending
Great, warm, romantic, spicy book, like a warm drink after a long day but.. the ending felt so rushed and unfinished. Like they cut out the last chapter, it didn’t close up their story and that’s annoying

Easy Read - Lovely Story
This book was very well written and I was able to read in just a matter of days. The writing and the plot was beautiful. I did find it to be a slow burn which isn't something I'd typically go for, however, I can see this being one of my 2023 favourites and I am excited to read more from this author. The plot was well executed and some amazing characters that you will fall in love with and some you would want to take home and cherish forever

Way more than expected!
I’m a sucker for a punny title so that is initially what caught my eye. This book was way more than I expected. I thought it would be a cute read and it was but it also had amazing character and story development. Not only are the H&h lovable and relatable the supporting characters paint such an excellent picture of the community. This is also a very real and well handled look at a rural community when money and industry leave and addiction and crime take over. It’s a sad but very real part of life in rural America but handled in a real way with people who choose to make a difference and be better than the hand they were dealt and those who choose to be a victim instead. Great book and I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. Another mystery to make things exciting but it’s balance with love and reality so it’s that much more believable.

Meant To Be!
“Wood You Be Mine - Lovewell Lumberjack Series” by Daphne ElliotHoly Lumberjacks! Who would have thought this would have been something to get my “engine revving!” Lol I have a new appreciation for Lumberjacks. All I know is I have to buy my husband some flannel shirts and a maul. He’s already rocking the beard - yay me!Welcome to Lovewell, Maine! Where Lumberjacks are hot and Principals are sassy as heck! Put them together and you get pure perfection. Daphne Elliot has once again created a “Small Town Series” that must be read. In Book 1 of The “Lovewell Lumberjacks Series” “Wood You Be Mine?” you meet Henri. He is grumpy, rugged, protective, built like a tree and levelheaded ... that is until he meets his new tenant Alice. Alice is smart, determined, kind hearted and curvy in all the right places. She has always put everyone else first. This time it’s all about her! She is Lovewell’s newest school principal. She is ready to take on new challenges, including her hot Lumberjack Landlord. The chemistry between these two characters were undeniable from the moment they meet. However, what I love about these characters is they were both levelheaded, down to earth and how the encourage and support one another unconditionally. It was so refreshing to see two adults acting like adults. No games, no lies, no nonsense, no cheating. Just two people wanting one another and acting on it. I loved how Henri was grumpy and rugged. Yet, when he was with Alice, Goldie and Tucker, he was all mush. My heart was melting. What I love about Alice is she isn’t a typical MFC - tall, skinny and perfect. She is petite, reserved at first and voluptuous in all the right places. What I also love about this book is how close Henri and his family all are with one another. I’m really hoping all his siblings get books of their own. One can only hop!I have read all of Daphne Elliot’s books. But, I must say, this is my favourite one yet. This is one series I’m going to be devouring. I can’t wait until book 2 comes out! Congratulations on another great couple! Henri and Alice are pretty special indeed. ❤️

can’t talk right now, packing up my life to move to rural Maine
A young teacher decides she no longer has to fit into the box she has been told to be in for her whole life. She takes a huge step and accepts a job in rural Maine and relocates from everyone and everything she knows. And she is reborn into New Alice. Her new town is everything small town America is portrayed in Hallmark films and I AM HERE FOR THE HOT BEARDS AND FLANNEL. And boy, is the beard hot AF. With an axe and a woodsy cabin and more flannel than a rural Walmart, Henri is a bearded, grumpy, wet dream and turns out he is also New Alice’s landlord. Hello tension. Can New Alice accomplish all of her dreams and career goals while sticking to her no relationships rule? You need to read this book to find out.Wood You Be Mine is everything you want for a grumpy lumberjack romance novel and Daphne Elliot nailed it. Get the tissues ready because this is spicy, sweet, loving and everything that is good. I loved everything and can’t wait to see what happens in the second book. And now I need to relocate from Australia to rural Maine because I need a Henri in my life.

sweetness overload
Phenomenal read, I couldn’t put it down. It was such a great story. I don’t love that the story wasn’t a stand-alone and I need to continue in the series to find out what happens but such a great read

sweet small town romance
This book is a sweet small town romance with a grumpy lumberjack MMC and a vivacious FMC!Stars: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5Steam: 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️/5Tropes: 𝒈𝒓𝒖𝒎𝒑𝒚/𝒔𝒖𝒏𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒆, 𝒔𝒎𝒂𝒍𝒍 𝒕𝒐𝒘𝒏, 𝒏𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒔, 𝒄𝒖𝒓𝒗𝒚 𝒉𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒊𝒏𝒆, 𝒃𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓POV: 𝒅𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝑷𝑶𝑽Alice makes a big life change by moving to Maine from Massachusetts after being passed up in a job promotion. So she takes a job as principal in the close knit town of Lovewell. The school is not doing well and she has her work cut out for her. Alice is a really great FMC. I love her inner dialogues.“𝑴𝒂𝒚𝒃𝒆 𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒂 𝒔𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝒌𝒊𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒓? 𝑺𝒉𝒐𝒄𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒍𝒚, 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒏’𝒕 𝒃𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒆. 𝑺𝒉𝒊𝒕, 𝑰 𝒏𝒆𝒆𝒅𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒔𝒕𝒐𝒑 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒔𝒐 𝒎𝒖𝒄𝒉 𝒅𝒂𝒓𝒌 𝒓𝒐𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒄𝒆.”Henri is the CEO of his family’s timber business and Alice’s grumpy landlord. His father died suddenly (some mystery around it) and he inherited the struggling business. Henri is immediately drawn to Alice and she sets off his protective instincts. Alice finds herself some comical problems (a moose and weaponized tampons IYKYK) and her brawny lumberjack is there to help. Henri is a grump but also cares deeply for his loved ones./“𝑱𝒖𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒂𝒚 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕 𝒊𝒕, 𝒃𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒓𝒄𝒖𝒑. 𝑰’𝒍𝒍 𝒈𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒏𝒚𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕.”/I did find the pacing to be a little off. I really enjoyed to beginning and middle of the story. The push-pull between the MCs was great, the tension was steamy, and the spice was fire 🔥 I thought toward the end there was a lot going on and the book ended a little abruptly. It looks like this will be a series so hopefully we’ll get some answers about what happened to Henri’s dad.
