Time management is really about planning ahead. The author of this book makes you think about your particular style and needs, and gives you ideas about how to work with them.For my particular issues, her most useful suggestions were:(a) avoid setting unrealistic deadlines for yourself and either build in the time that your natural rhythm demands or re-evaluate whether you need to do that particular job;(b) learn to time errands accurately (getting it wrong means not assigning enough time, leading to panic, or assigning too much, leading to procrastination).(c) assign a specific time to each task - as you would assign a place for an object in your home - rather than just plan to do it "this week"(d) never use more than one planner - use the same one at home and at work.One star removed for too extensive a discussion of types of planners.

Enjoying this overall and applying many of the paper-planner based tips. Be aware however that the author writes as if cloud-based technology and mobile phones don't exist eg "If you use software on your desktop as your sole time-management tool, and are mobile, print out pages and carry them with you". There are many references to "palm pilots", this edition being published in 2004. But sound principles such as immediately assigning new tasks a date and time to be tackled, grouping similar tasks together and making time more material by the overstuffed closet metaphor, have been useful.

So far as I have read the content is good. I do have one gripe and that is the paper quality is poor for a book of this price. I bought a book as I thought I would write notes by pertinent points but think the kindle version may have been a better choice.

Really good tips. Over the years I'd stopped using some of my best habits. As a result of this book I got my time manager mojo back. Recommended.
