Basic toy that leads to hours of play. My son is 9 and was able to do almost the entire kit on his own. Everything works just as it's supposed to; easy to use; and looks very nice on his shelf. We could see germination within a couple weeks. I think the price point is great for future birthday party gifts for his friends. He liked this so much he chose it over screen time.

We started a pumpkin seed in it on March 21 and now June 18th have a massive pumpkin plant that's producing flowers. Transferring it out was a little tricky but it definitely thrived in the little planter by the sunny window until it had more roots than room.We just started some corn in it with our own dirt on the 14th and it's already sprouted with leaves.

I am an avid gardener and my parents were gardeners as well. My grandson loves working in the garden and having his own little space. Having the root viewer makes gardening even more special and I believe it will help to instill in him, how fun and rewarding growing your own food can be. One side of the root viewer has pictures on it and the other side is clear. In order to see the roots growing you have to plant the seeds on the clear side of the grow kit. Not an issue but it would be nicer if it was clear viewing on all sides.

Update: the company reached out to me and were so pleasant and professional. I added a star to my review because of the great customer service. I honestly plan on giving other products they sell a try.The planter is nice, but the dirt and seeds did not work out. The dirt became mouldy and the seeds absolutely would not sprout.I tried planting the seeds in different dirt, a different pot, and they still didn't sprout.I got some new dirt and seeds to use with the container, and my son was able to watch those grow. The plastic is clear and seems durable, I wish it came with a drip tray though.Overall I would not recommend the kit because the dirt and seeds were terrible.

Okay, so I definitely ordered this to do with my 4 year old, though it quickly became evident it was just as much for me as it was for him. I am pretty sure I like it more than my son does HAHA. But the product came packaged well, it was easy and fun to set up. My son loved all the stickers that came with it and had a blast decorating the container. My advice would be to let your little decorate the container before you put the stuff in it despite the instructions saying to do so after. But we followed the instructions, I placed the container up on my kitchen window ledge and within about 3 days we saw sprouts! The seeds grew very quickly and it was so cool to see the roots through the container and how they wrap around the bottom. It is easy to keep up on as it just needs a few squirts of water at a time. A second benefit of this project is that my son under supervision gets to practice using his scissors and "mowing" the grass, which he sure thinks is pretty cool

Gave as a gift and was so disappointed when I asked how it was going. My grandson was so excited to watch the roots grow and all he saw was mold growing on the soil. Apparently this is an ongoing problem with these kits. I ended up buying him some new seeds and some clay pots to grow flowers in. He won't be able to see the roots, but it was the next best thing to him starting a little garden of his own. I wish this had better quality soil and maybe seeds. The concept is great.
