The Catchpoles did it again!
What Happened To You? was such a treat and this book is right up there with it. It's entertaining, lighthearted, and most of all authentic and genuine. I'm so glad disability awareness is showing up in children's literature. It is making the world a better place!

Adorable & Insightful
This book was adorable and had a catchy cadence to the words that my nephews adored. The context of the book was an important lesson, “No one wants to be singled out for being different.” Telling someone they’re amazing for doing every little thing can send very confusing signals and that’s what the authors showed in their story and explained to adults in their note at the end.I said all of that just to say that I think this is a great book and conversation starter and highly recommend it for your little ones, even my nephew agrees.Age Range 3 - 8Children’s Picture Book: A lesson on how to treat others, friends & playing, Disability, Limb Difference

Inclusion at its finest
Joe only has one leg. He knows what he’s missing - but goes on about his serious business of playing. He notices how everyone praises everything he does - including just scratching his bottom. People continually praised him until he just wanted to be invisible. No one should feel that way. He didn’t want everyone feeling sorry for him either. This story brings these points to light in a gentle way while focusing on Joe’s feelings. The illustrations showcase the story and are simply adorable. Overall, it’s a fabulous story that brings awareness to inclusion.

A Must Read
I am beyond impressed with the way James and Lucy Catchpole have managed to balance humor with the heartfelt story of Joe, a boy who wants to simply be seen as a normal kid instead of as an inspirational person with a disability.Everywhere Joe goes, adults call him amazing even for performing the easiest of tasks. When this happens, however, Joe doesn’t feel amazing. A wonderful visual illustrates his discouraged feelings as his imaginative games with his friends shift to ordinary ones every time someone calls him amazing. It is evident that Joe is at his happiest, when he is treated like everyone else. This must-read book is an excellent choice for starting conversations on empathy and understanding of others’ feelings. I also highly recommend the companion story WHAT HAPPENED TO YOU?

This book is amazing!
My 4.5 year old loves this book. She calls the first book Joe is Joe and this one Joe is Joe two. She asks to read it several times a day. We often talk about the message behind the book and now she sometimes will blurt out “gah! He just wants to play like any other kid!” And of course giggles every time at the bottom joke.

This is an absolute MUST READ.
I wish every single classroom and every single bookshelf could have this book. There aren’t enough good words to be said about it. It shines an incredibly important light on the toxic inspiration that the disabled community constantly face and reinforces a call to action on the necessity of treating everyone with the dignity that we all deserve. Bravo!

Tender, Insightful, and Funny
I cant recommend this book enough. The illustrations are so precious, and the story is sweet as ever. The message about how we respond to disability, and how intrusive questions can make someone feel is an important one. and this book allows for these conversations with little ones. Order. This. Sweet. Book! Thanks!

Beautiful illustrations and a brilliant funny story.
Another book to add to your book shelf that puts disability representation at the forefront of your library!Love this book - so funny, witty and charming. The addition of notes for grown-ups at the end really add to this - the story maybe for children but the message is for all!
