The Carolina Gold rice middlins are flavorful and the broken grains have a very nice texture. I like that this rice cooks quickly compared to other rices, but you do have to keep an eye on it to avoid overcooking If you use a rice cooker as I have. There are many articles on the proper way to cook this rice and I will try them, but so far I have used my cuisinart rice cooker (rice cookers have not been recommended by the articles I’ve read). The cooker clicks from cook to warm in around 10 minutes but the rice is not done. I leave it on warm and keep an eye on progress through the glass lid. In my opinion, when the rice is still steamy but not under water or dry on top, it is ready and the texture and flavor are amazing. The package also refers to a company web site with some good recipes, googling Carolina gold rice middlins will give you even more.

I'm trying different rices since I bought a rice cookbook. I feel like I've been missing out on a flavorful world. This rice tastes earthy and nutty which I love!! Add some almonds, pair with grilled trout - delicious!!

I avoid corn based products because of their effect on my metabolism. Rice is my go to starch. I have tried—and liked—rice grits from other makers, but these rice grits are superior. They resemble corn grits. Other products are made from brown rice which doesn’t gave a neutral flavor. Other products aren’t deliberately ground—they are just assorted broken pieces of rice (midlins). They are coarse and chewy. These grits are uniform and creamier.

If you like to cook southern/cajun food, you must have this rice.

Great quality product but a bit expensive for rice.

I bought the three pack for my daughter, granddaughter and her friend because, first, it is grown in Georgetown, SC where I live. Second, it is so flavorful and takes less water to yield the same amount as the store brands. The taste is nutty and the rice really fluffs up nicely. It is a bit on the pricey side, but I think it is worth it, especially as I am supporting a local business.

I made cheesy rice grits for a work breakfast. I put the pot down and went to get coffee, and it was all gone when I got back. This rice was exactly what I was looking for. I love the rice grits from the Gaylord hotel and this was the exact same type of rice.
