Reliable, quick readings, very sensitive.
This handheld carbon monoxide detector is a must have if you have any type of gas in your home!I recently renovated my kitchen and switched the oven from electric to propane. While using the oven for the very first time the flame in the oven just didn’t look right to me.I took out the CO detector and confirmed that there were dangerous levels of CO emanating from the oven.Turns out the plumber who installed the oven never converted it from natural gas to propane. This handheld is easy to use, turns on fast and it’s quickly ready to test your appliances.

Works good
I have recently biught a combustion analizer and this measure within 5 to 10 ppm of what the calibrated combustion analizer reads. Not bad considering the combustion analizer was $1500. I would expect this to easily pick up dangerious amount of CO without a problem, just realize it is also tempurture sensitve which can sffect the reading its its very cold or very hot where you are measuring but at room temp it reads fine.

It works! But call your local fire department to be truly safe.
Worked perfectly, arrived the next day after ordering it at night. Gives me a lot of peace of mind, after having the carbon monoxide alarms go off.

Happy with it but for the battery cover !
I tested this device against my wife's exhaust with the engine running and the garage door open. As soon as I got close to the exhaust, the detector was angry red with alarm bleeping nonstop, kudos ! As I walked away slowly from the exhaust, the scale gradually went down the on the monitor, then it turned green as soon as I walked into the living area and the connecting garage door was shut. So that gave me peace of mind that it works. I intend to use it to verify my combo ceiling mounted CO/Fire detector which recently has intermittently been going off when the furnace turns ON, even with new batteries. Now, I shall have the peace of mind knowing that it is not CO ticking off the alarm. In addition to the ceiling mounted CO/Fire detector, I also have a plug in CO detector. Cannot be over cautious with CO. I took away 1 star because the battery cover is the screw in type. This I find annoyingly inconveniencing in any appliance. It means use of another hardware, a screwdriver to remove the cover to change the batteries. This is one of several appliances ,I do not intend to leave the battery inside indefinitely, since hopefully it will be seldom used. So I think it is an inconvenience to always have to look for a 2.5 star screw driver any time I need to use the device just to put in the batteries. Why they could not design it with a slip on battery cover, which should be cheaper to make beats my imagination. Hope, they make future ones with a slip on battery cover.

Wildly inaccurate, would be dangerous to trust your life with.
This device never worked out of the box. The moment that I turned it on inside my house, it started reading 100-150ppm. That made me nervous, so I turned it off, walked outside and turned it back on. The lowest possible reading that I was able to get outside in the middle of the woods was 100ppm.What's ironic is that the lowest ppm reading that I ever got on this was reading the exhaust from my propane boiler, where it basically dropped to zero. It's almost like the readings on this are completely inverted. In the end, I can't imagine a situation where someone should use this. If your are regularly monitoring CO levels, do yourself a favor and buy a more known and trusted brand.

Good to have when your CO alarm sounds
I have several Kidde fire/carbon monoxide alarms throughout my house that are also hard wired so that when one goes off, they all do. I’ve had two recent alarms that required me to disconnect all four to stop the alarms. When I reinstalled them later in the evening, they didn’t sound, until they did, a couple of weeks later. Given that I’ve replaced all of them in the last year or two as they reached their 10 year life expectancy, I have no reason to think that one may be defective, but no way to be sure.I immediately ordered this device and it was at my front door when I awoke the next morning. Great job Amazon.I took readings around both the propane hot air furnace in our basement as well as the propane stove in the kitchen. All readings, over several hours, were below the PPM that Kidde says should trigger the alarm.I am waiting until the weather turns colder so that the furnace runs continuously to take additional readings and keeping this meter handy so that I can immediately test if the alarms go off again.I had called the HVAC company to respond, but I don’t think they would have found a cause of the alarm going off. This meter is only a small fraction of the cost of a technician. So I canceled the service call and will use the meter to check periodically and grab it immediately in the event of another alarm.Looks like a quality made product at a great price, with the caveat that I have no way to independently test its accuracy, at least until the alarm goes off again.
