Italic Handwriting Series Book C

The other handwriting methods we'd tried before this one make use of only 3 lines: baseline, midline, topline. This method adds the "branching line," the "shoulder line," and the "descender line" which are really helpful in making letters consistent and well proportioned. But for whatever reason, the paper provided for practice looks just like regular handwriting paper. I went through with a ruler and attempted to add the other lines so that kids would have those reference points. I wish the paper came marked with all the lines the instructions refer to.

We love the Getty Dubay Italic and Book C is no exception. My 2nd graders love to color the tiny pictures in and decorate along the border of the page. Handwriting practice gives kids an opportunity to learn how to do quality work. When my kids present their page to me and it's sloppy, they do it over. So I have taught them to look it over themselves before they bring it to me, and you should see the change in their writing! It is beautiful! Even my lefty child regularly brings me beautifully-formed letters. I always look through their page and put stars on top of the letters that are the most beautiful. If a letter needs to be done over, I underline it, and as long as it is fixed correctly, it then gets a star on top.On a personal note, I find Italic handwriting to be far more beautiful than D'Nealian, and as a huge bonus, it makes for a far easier transition to cursive. I've been using this program for 6 years now with 3 different kids and have no desire to switch (which is saying something... I am a known curriculum hopper).

In just one school year my kids penmanship improves unbelievably thanks to this book. Homeschooling for 15 years and tried a lot of workbooks and curriculum, this is on my must have list.

I used this handwriting system for our family’s homeschool program. Now I’m tutoring a grandson and am using it with him. I wish the public schools would replace the Palmer method with this handwriting method!

Excellent, I used this series 20 years ago for my older children & now for my 11yr old after a brain injury. It has helped him tremendously to learn how to write again.

I remember doing this as a kid and now am using it for my kids! It is good!
