Product Description Inuyasha The Movies Box Set (1-4) (Deluxe Edition)In a mystical version of feudal-era Japan, modern-day schoolgirl Kagome and half-demon Inuyasha are drawn together across time to protect a land ravaged by demons! In these four feature films, our heroes take on new challenges and strange foes. With their crew of demon-slaying friends, Kagome and Inuyasha face the adventures of their lives!]]> .com The four Inu-Yasha theatrical features pit the cast of Rumiko Takahashi's "feudal fairy tale" against new foes: The search for the shards of the Shikon Jewel falls by the wayside as Kagome, Inu-Yasha, Shippo, Miroku, and Sango tackle these supernatural enemies. In Affections Touching Across Time (2001), the moth-demon Menomaru seeks to reclaim the powers of his father, who was defeated by Inu-Yasha's father during the attempted Mongol invasion of 1274. The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass (2002) evokes the Japanese legend "The Tale of the Bamboo-Cutter," when Kaguya appears, claiming to be the legendary Moon Princess. Swords of an Honorable Ruler (2003) reveals that Inu-Yasha's father, the Great Dog Demon, possessed not two but three swords: Tetsusaiga, Tenseiga, and Sounga, which are linked to Earth, Heaven, and Hell, respectively. When the Sounga is accidentally freed, its aura raises the soul of Takemaru, the samurai who murdered Inu-Yasha's mother. The villains in Fire on Mystic Island (2004) are the Four War Gods, powerful demons on the island of Houraijima, who preserve and augment their power by sacrificing half-demon children. The later films are darker and more violent, although the directors balance the mayhem against familiar comedic elements, especially Kagome and Inu-Yasha squabbling. The features all reflect larger budgets than the television series, as the filmmakers employ a variety of CG effects: explosions, lightning bolts, insects, monsters, and strangling tree roots. Affections Touching Across Time stands out as the handsomest of the films, with designs that suggest the woodblock prints of Kawase Hasui. The set includes CDs of the movie soundtracks and a booklet on the traditional Japanese instruments they feature, although more information on composer Kaoru Wada would have been nice. A must-have for Inu-Yasha fans. (Rated Teen: suitable for ages 13 and older: violence, grotesque imagery, brief nudity, alcohol use, risqué humor) --Charles Solomon

Beautiful 8 disc box set. Couldn't be happier.
I couldn't be happier with this box set. It also came a few days early, so that's a plus, and arrived in perfect condition. The wooden box is a bit smaller than I was expecting, 8.5in by 6.5in, but very well made. Inuyasha is burned into the top, just as pictured in other reviews, and the slide top fits snugly and slides easily. All 8 discs are in perfect condition, and are in fact the movies and their corresponding soundtrack CDs, despite how low the price is. I'm honestly confused as to why this is so cheap, but it absolutely is what it says it is. Definitely recommend if you're a big Inuyasha fan.

Good deal!
The set comes in an attractive wooden case and inside is the DVD flip case itself which includes all four movies with languages in Japanese and English languages (with subtitles also) and four soundtrack discs. I am happy with this purchase as I am a big Inuyasha fan and so is my wife. We have all the seasons with the exception of the Final Act which is not yet available. This pretty much completes the set and is worth the money. For all four movies and all four soundtracks this is a very good deal. If you are looking to purchase the movies this is a great option and is recommended.

Top 5 Best Box Set Ever
This is almost the best box set I have ever bought for anime. This review is for the limited edition version in the wood box.The wood box is a cool idea, but the real gems are the inserts and the soundtracks. This is an all around excellent value, and pretty exceptional quality as well. The box is simple and cheap, but the packaging itself is basically flawless. I could not be happier. Best investment ever.

I love inuyasha! The box set came in a wooden box with the logo etched in the center of it. Inside the box was the disc holder for all four movies along with their original soundtrack. It also had two fold out prints listing the music track for each CD and covers for each movie. The only reason why I didn't put this as a 5/5 review is because of two things: 1 is the print out covering of the wooden box was wrinkled; 2 is that there is a small crack at the top left corner of the wooden box. Overall though, definitely a great buy!

'Sit' boy!!!
I Love this anime series. When I found out there were movies I had to have them. Since this arrived on my doorstep I have watched them each 8 times and introduced most of my family to the InuYasha experience. Then there are the wonderful musical scores that my coworkers have enjoyed listening to in my office. If you like the series these movies will fill in the gaps, and you'll find that you truely love it.

An outstanding value for the price!
InuYasha was and is one of the most popular multi-season japanese anime series ever made. It basically was about a young schoolgirl who gets sucked into the feudal past and with her allies, including the half-demon InuYasha ends up fighting demons, bandits and sundry corrupt rulers. It ran for seven consecutive seasons, had seven matching box sets (which are also on sale here at Amazon.ca). And spawned four matching movies which are presented here in a very very deluxe, very limited edition box set (see my uploaded pictures above) at an outstanding price! Grab them while you can.As you can see from my pictures, the box set contains all four InuYasha movies, the four matching CD soundtracks from the movies in a beautiful little digibook with a small pamphlet detailing the movie tracks and a larger booklet detailing the soundtracks. All of this is then inserted into a matching slipcover and it in turn into a real wooden box with a sliding wooden cover! This boxset used to sell for about $60 in the states and $70 to $80 here; so this is now an outstanding value either for your own collection or as a gift for any anime lover. As for the movies themselves, they're not bad ranging from 3 stars to 4. While it helps to know the characters, you really don't need to have seen any of the series as each movie stands on it's own. They won't bore you. I'd say they're suitable for any kids who can watch Terminator or any contemporary sci-fi action movie and with their mix of comedy and action, basically semi-family friendly. The first movie "Affections Across Time" is your typical heroes fighting demonic villains". I'd rate it 3-1/2. The second movie is "The Castle Beyond the Looking Glass" which is basically similar and probably the weakest of the bunch. I'd rate it a 3. The third movie "Swords of an Honourable Ruler" is where it really begins to get good as it shows glimpses of the past and InuYasha's demon father and his human mother in much greater detail than we get in the series itself. It's also faster paced and very touching at times. I'd give it at least a 4. The same holds true of the last movie, "Fire on Mystic Island" not so much for the plot as in three, but because by this time the film makers had really gotten good at doing these movies. It's got the best action scenes right from the get go, some of the most interesting characters and a superb soundtrack. Again at least a solid 4, maybe more. All movies come with trailers, line art galleries with anywhere from 50 to 100 pieces of line art each, some of the better scenes from the tv series, 16x9 widescreen and both Dolby Digital stereo and 5.1 audio tracks in both English and Japanese. In addition, each movie should be watched all the way through to the end of the credits as each movie also has a nice little epiloque that would be a pity to miss!Overall, you can't beat this package for the price. Four good to very good movies, four good to very good soundtrack CD's, fancy packaging, good extras and a price the same as one simple movie by itself.Four stars for the movies. Five stars for the packaging and overall value.J. A.

Super!
Cool boxset!Comes in an cute extra wooden box. The movies are really nice (as is the tv series) and they do not overlap with the series, so they are a good extra for fans. If you have not seen the Tv series yet, watch them first, otherwise the plot might be a bit less fun if you don't know the history of the characters. As the box set was an import from the Staates, I could not watch it on my UK DVD player/TV but it worked fine on the laptop.

A must have for any Inuyasha collection!
This box contains all 4 of the InuYasha movies, plus the soundtracks for each movie. The special packaging makes it a real treat. Very wonderfully put together. The art style of the movies is different then that of the anime, however that does help keep it a bit 'separate' from the anime in a way as none of the stories were part of the original manga; it gives it it's own flavor if you will.Highly Recommended!
