How To Do Street Magic DVD by Brad Christian - Magic Tricks by Ellusionist.com

Outstanding! I can't say enough about this detailed and beautifully created DVD. Christian's selection of "tricks" is just excellent (no Simple Simon stuff here) and he holds nothing back. His demonstrations are detailed and easy to follow. Some reviews have suggested that this isn't 'street magic' but if not, then what is? I read the positive reviews prior to purchase and only half believed the claims but I was not disappointed in the least. I'm strictly amateur but have already manged to amaze some of my dinner guests (and myself!).

My son absolutely loves this , he just loves magic and all he does is study. Bought this as a gift and worth every penny !

I would like to start this review by saying that I am a 28 year old male who has never done any sort of magic in my life. So I am a true beginner in every sense of the term. I stumbled across "How To Do Street Magic" one day after watching a David Blaine special on television. I was searching the internet for an item or items that would teach me how to do anything remotely close to what David Blaine does. Let me tell you, with this video, I found EXACTLY what I was looking for!!!I ordered the video and within 3 days it was waiting for me in my mailbox. I was so excited to start learning the secrets of magic and I assumed that it may take me months to actually perform any of the effects on the DVD. I WAS WRONG! Brad Christian phenomenally executes the teaching of each and every aspect of each and every effect. You can tell he wants to make sure that when you perform any of these illusions you are going to nail it. His teaching makes the learning process so much easier and I was able to perform several of the effects the next day!!! With this being said, I want to remind you that I had never performed magic before I purchased this video. It really is that amazing!!!To further solidify the fact that you should buy this DVD let me tell you about some of the reactions I have received when performing some of these wonderful effects.- "Burned" This is the first effect taught on the DVD and it blows people away!!! I work in a bank and one night after we closed I performed this for the ladies that I work with. The reactions I got were priceless! There were four of them and all of them were in awe. One of the ladies literally said, "Let me out of here! This isn't right. This is just not right at all!" Another one said, "Are you the devil?" There were screams and laughter. It was perfect!!!This is only a tiny, tiny portion of what is taught on this masterpiece. This DVD is jam-packed with twenty-two effects and flourishes that will have you performing magic within hours of watching the video. "How To Do Street Magic" is the perfect way to start your experience in magic. It will get your feet wet and teach you things that will AMAZE!!!Do yourself a favor and purchase this DVD today. You will not be disappointed at all.

This is probably one of the best done videos. If you are a beginner, it is a great way to see if street magic is for you. Brad Christian is a wonderful teacher. I have a few of his other videos as well. He is by far one of the best magic instructors out there. He can really break down the moves so that you understand and then can perform them. I was doing magic the first day I got this video and impressing my family who didn't know I could do that sort of magic. That is how easy it was to learn!!!! Definately worth the price if you want to learn real closeup magic.

If you're looking for a DVD on how to do David Blaine type street magic, you are looking at the wrong DVD. Though Brad does a very good job at teaching, the material taught is basic sleight of hand used at the card table. Though it can be used on the street as well, the tricks taught using the sleight of hand are mostly tricks that would mostly work for children. Brad sells a series of his own produced magic DVDs at ellusionist.com; Those entilted Ninja 1, Ninja 2, and Crash Course in Street Magic 2 actually have a fair amount of street magic in them but one has to wonder why he repeats material taught in earlier DVDs such as How to Do Street Magic in those. He always repeats material instead of having a DVD full of new material and a lot of the time the good material is sprinkled within all of the mediocre material on a lot of his DVDs. Ellusionist does have a good site though some things are priced a little higher than at other magic sites. I would recommend buying The Royal Road to Card Magic as it teaches you very basic sleight of hand in its 5 dvd set to pretty advanced sleight of hand and all for around [...] bucks instead of buying the ellusionist set for around [...] total; that set repeats material and has a lot of mediocre magic when you think of what you're paying for. One also has to wonder why they have strictly glowing reviews on their website for EVERYTHING; there is always someone who will not like your product no matter what. If you are looking for magic material, I would also try penguinmagic.com; they have a very good selection and the reviews for their products actually have good and bad reviews which to me gives a bit of legitimacy and gives you and idea of what you would possibly be buying. Bottom line, the dvd here is way over priced for what it teaches; I mean this material if very old and can be learned from cheap books by Scarne, or Jean Hugard. My advice would be to buy an actual progressively harder dvd set like the one mentioned above which has been excellent so far, then go buy some books by the above mentioned authors who have tricks like the pass, the ambitious card and other "street magic" and teach yourself. By the time you go through a dvd set learning a vast amount of sleights and tricks, it should be a breeze to learn from a book. There are a lot of quality magic dvds out there at ellusionist and penguinmagic as well as other sites, but you will be paying a bundle compared to what you would pay for a book; so be careful when buying dvds and do your research because there is a lot of overpriced, overhyped [...] out there like this particular dvd which isn't even good street magic.

Belive the hype. I got Brad's "Street Magic" DVD and 2 others. Don't get me wrong, pratice is essential, but the pay off is worth it. For days my son couldn't believe his eyes his dad could make things vanish and reappear, even levitate! Don't expect to play poker with your buds any more either, but then again babes will be all over you. Image never having to be bored at another party. There's just something about floating a borrowed dollar bill out out of someone's hand into mid-air that, then giving it back to them that boggles the mind.
