Disappointing - a missed opportunity
Completely agree with previous reviewer (Sarah Matthews) - the quality of the prepress (scanning and optimisation of images) and printing is very disappointing.Considering the RRP of £150 (I watched and waited for price to drop below £60 before purchasing) and the uniquely colourful subject matter, the printing processes used (standard Process/CMYK lithographic printing) are not adequate to communicate/reproduce the vibrant colours of Vlisco's fabrics. There really is no excuse for this. It's clear from the scale of this book's production and a retail price of over £100/€100 that Vlisco sought to produce a premium publication. The printing and production expertise exists in The Netherlands, Europe and beyond (see MM Artbook Printing & Repro) to customise prepress and printing processes (specialist inks, etc.) to achieve more dynamic reproductions that better convey the density and vibrancy of Vlisco's exciting patterns. There is even a book currently for sale on Amazon.co.uk - Color Library (2018) by Shirana Shahbazi and Emily King that explores/illustrates alternative commercial printing processes.Developed by ECAL / University of Art and Design Lausanne, the 'Color Library' book and accompanying website provide an illustrated "database of color profiles for artists, designers, photographers and printers looking for a fresh but professional color-management solution."In terms of it's production, the Vlisco Fabrics book is a real missed opportunity. :o(

I feel the quality of the photos of the fabric in this book is poor. For the price
Even though my book arrived damaged after waiting 2 months to get it, I feel the quality of the photos of the fabric in this book is poor. For the price, the poor quality was unacceptable.
