This is not a "real" flute!
Band director and flutist here. For the love of all that is good, please don't send your kid to school with one of these. You may think it's great at first but your band director has likely already warned you about these instrument-shaped objects. Listen to them. It will sound like a flute for about 3 months. Until your kids needs to play actual notes, with an actual band. THEY WILL STRUGGLE. The keys won't seal properly. Sometimes they'll get notes, other times they'll get random squeaks, sometimes just air. They'll have to press really hard on the keys to get notes to come out, which will make it impossible for them to change notes with their peers. They'll be behind all the time. Their pitch will be all over the place. The springs will pop off. When it starts not working properly, your kid will try to adjust all the little screws with the little screw driver that is included and should never be put into the hands of a novice. Once they start turning screws, even millimeters, it's game over. It will not play. You'll never get the keys to close again. You'll try to get it repaired. The repair shop will laugh at you for asking them to repair a toy "instrument shaped object." They won't touch it. Because it isn't a musical instrument. The parts are not standard and can't be replaced or repaired. The materials are thin nickel with silver colored paint on top. Heck, yours might even be blue or purple (HUGE RED FLAG). If you even attempt a repair, the paint will start chipping off. The screws will break off in the posts. They'll tell you to make a lamp out of it. If you are buying this because you truly can't afford a real instrument, talk to your band director. They have resources. They may have instruments they can loan out. Might be a trumpet or a trombone, but it will play music. The $70 you spend on this will last about 3-6 months. Spend your money on a used brand-name instrument and have it repaired. At $140/year buying new toys every time they break, you will have spent the cost of a real instrument after a few years. But your kid will have quit by then anyway because you set them up for failure when you gave them this. I can't stress this enough. THIS IS NOT A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT.

Nice flute with lots of accessories, perfect for a beginner like me
I am not at all familiar with the components of a good flute, but I've always wanted to learn how to play one, so I got this one because I felt the price was right for a rank beginner. To my novice eye, it appears to be a good quality, nicely-constructed instrument, and it comes with lots of accessories. I'm just getting acquainted with it, and so far so good.
