These are great gates. We got two of them for the top and bottom of our staircase. These are perfect for the top of stairs because there is no bar running across the walkway to trip you up.The construction is very solid. No child will be able to break this gate. The hinge end should be installed into a stud. If installed into drywall, I think a determined kid or someone carelessly putting weight on the open gate would pull it out of the wall.The self close feature is really handy. If you want it to stay open, open it a full 90 degrees. Any less than that and the gate will close on it's own. It makes a distinct sound when it latches, so you know it is closed without having to look back.I'm very happy with these gates, my only suggestion would be to put a raised ridge on the release button to make it easier to get a grip on.

My newest chihuahua has decided to be a perimeter cop so I needed something to contain him to my deck area when we are just hanging out. This gate is perfect! I like that the brackets in the center allow for a precise fit, and like everyone else appreciate there is no low bar (to trip on). My railing posts are metal so I zip tied a 4x1 wood plank to it, painted it black, and drilled the end latch to that. I love the 180” open angle, and secured a hook to the wall to keep it propped open when desired. Gate is lightweight but sturdy, and eeps my dogs contained so my neighbors and I can all enjoy the day.

Installed this in my hallway to separate my dogs. Build quality great, fit as measured. Easy installation. Works well. Instructions were ok. Value for the money. Safe for separating my pets as planned.

We're using these gates for pets, not children, so I didn't bother to install the bottom of the two latch receivers/brackets. This makes installation easier and faster, and when you use the gate, you don't have to life it - you can just pull back on the latch and it swings open. If you have children you'll want both brackets for safety.This is a nice product at a good price. I like that its width is adjustable without installing "expansion" sections - you just slide it to width and four set-screws make that permanent. (Plastic connectors between expansion sections broke on our old gate, which is why we bought these.) I also like that it has a self-close feature, but if you open it all the way, it has a recess in the hinge that holds it open. That's nice.The only thing I don't like so far is the latch is RIGHT against the edge of the gate, where it latches to the wall. If you have big fingers it can be a little awkward activating it - other gates have a button or latch an inch or so from the edge, which is easier to operate. A minor detail but worth noting.

Yes the instructions suck but it isn’t hard to build. There is a QR code for an installation video which helps. The problem is that the instructions don’t entirely match. For example it tells you to loosen some pieces that are attached but they did not come attached on mine and I had to figure out what they were talking about. The parts are all in one bag, nothing is labeled. Watch the video first and you should be fine. I had to attach a board since my newel post isn’t flat but it works until we replace the rail. I love that it opens completely and doesn’t have a rail on the bottom as a trip hazard.

We bought two of these off Amazon. Come to find out today, there is a design flaw where the screw in the hinge bracket holding the gate into the side dislodged and comes out. One of ours popped out and we have no idea when or where but the screw is now missing. This is a huge swallowing and choking hazard for babies and toddlers. And the gate itself no longer works without the screw place so it is a fall risk too. We checked our other gate- that screw is loose too. Don’t buy this! Mine is not the only review calling out this issue- it’s not worth the trip to the ER for X-rays that we now have to take.

Very easy install. Works very well. Great having almost the whole area open when the gate is open, alot better than narrow center gate before. Very nice when open nothing on floor to step over.

Gate swings both ways, used this for my kitchen hallway/entry & holds in place when opened at 90 degrees. As described and came with anchors, screws, & everything needed. Having a DRILL is a MUST and a level is ideal. Secure for little one to pull themselves up on and stand. Video instructions were very clear and easy to follow for the install. My husband and I installed this in about 10-15 minutes with a drill. Absolutely love there is no bar!!
