Zyrtec has been our family's solution to spring allergies and this generic (is it BJ's or Sam's, can't remember) works great and is a bargain.As a great bonus, it fits - chemically - into a drug category that doesn't dry up my milk, so my nursing babies stay happy, too!Great stuff!UPDATE: 2015 Began using this product again this spring, as usual, and found to my surprise that all my kids (especially the older ones, so it was more noticeable) started having tons of emotional melt-down/anger issues....???? Since the timing was right, I went hunting online to see if there was anything to my theory about a connection with the Zyrtec in other families. What I found REALLY shocked me. It seems that a lot of kids and adults have had really serious "mental health" (I am using that term to generalize all sort of symptoms from more anger/tears, to depression, to muscular tics, to major mental health problems) fall out from Zyrtec. YIKES!We stopped the Zyrtec and within a day or two the symptoms were gone and life went on. Thank you, Jesus! In it's place we used a daily regimen of Stinging Nettle and Quercetin (sp?) and it held us. We've also been - more and more - exploring how we can heal our guts, so we don't have allergies at all...wouldn't that be nice!? Favorite book on that subject so far is *Brain Maker* by Dr. David Perlmutter. Have a look if you'd simply like to get rid of the allergies, rather than band-aid them with meds when they flair up.

My allergies are multiple, and they are very strong. Therefore, I need an antihistamine that is potent, safe, and lasts 24 hours. Cetirizine is the most potent antihistamine on the market, and it lasts a full 24-hours, but it is not the safest option. Although advertisers have claimed that cetirizine is non-drowsy, this is false; the research is clear, and clinical experience confirms, that cetirizine causes cognitive impairment in many people. This raises concerns about productivity, driving safety, and generally about a person's ability to control his or her behavior. For example, I tend to gain weight on cetirizine, because it impairs my self-control. Hence, I usually use fexofenadine, which is much safer, lasts nearly as long, and is nearly as potent. From time to time, when I am exposed to allergens, I supplement the fexofenadine with cetirizine, or I substitute cetirizine for it. Pros - very affordable - the most potent antihistamine on the market - effects last a good 24 hours - some people report no side-effects Cons - in many people, causes cognitive side effects, particularly with executive functions and self-control - probably impairs driving in some people

So I have used cetirizine for years and it really is an extremely effective antihistamine, but I noticed whenever i procrastinated in taking them, I would start to get unbearably itchy and thought it was maybe something I always had and never noticed due to taking antihistamines since i was a child. However, it seems to just be a fairly common symptom that months to years of regular cetirizine usage can cause what's essentially a dependence because when you'd try to stop taking them, you would experience various negative effects but the most extreme being extreme itchiness all over your body, including parts that you'd never considered being able to feel itchy. However, since that's only a problem if you stop after a long time and if you need to take antihistamines every day anyway then you could avoid the issue by just never stopping.

My husband and I both use Member's Mark Formerly known as Simply Right Cetirizine on a daily basis. It's been nice to be able to order it on Amazon rather than drive over an hour to the nearest Sam's Club. Easy to order, packaged nicely, and shipped quickly. Save me time, and gas money. While I do pay a few more dollars on Amazon it's worth it to me in time , and gas saved.Tablets are small and easy to swallow. With Husband and I both taking one daily this lasts us over 6 months. Name brand is much more expansive , and doesn't last nearly as long. We've both had great allergy control with these. Neither of us suffer any side effects, they do not make us drowsy and help with both seasonal and other allergies. I suffer from terrible allergies, and I am frankly quite sick of paying upwards of 30 dollars for a month or two's supply of the drug at my local pharmacy. Fortunately, Amazon has come to the rescue. With this product, I can get over a year's worth of cetirizine for less than half the price I used to be paying for a month's supply.So far I have not noticed any negative effects from taking this generic. Sometimes generics will use a different filler for the rest of the pills, and some people may have allergies to the specific filler they use versus what the name brand uses, but this is rare and hasn't been the case for me here.Also, by law the actual dosage of the active ingredient in generics can vary something like +/- 10% from the actual written dose. This is also true for non-generics, but the name-brands usually do a better quality control job than generics. In this case, however, it seems like the an accurate amount because this product works just as well as Zyrtec brand.Overall, I recommend that any allergy sufferers who use Zyrtec stop stuffing the pockets of the drug companies with cash and simply switch over to this reasonably priced solution.
