I recently purchased the Key Safe Box for added security and convenience. This product truly deserves a 5-star rating for its outstanding features. These safe boxes are pretty much built to the same specifications nowadays.This one can either be screwed on to a surface via the holes on the back or can be attached like a padlock via a removable shank. It has a 4-digit combination lock with a slide up protective cover and is of metal construction.This version is well made a weighs 403g excluding Shank and fixings and so is solidly built. As I say these are all very much the same nowadays, so this version is as good as it gets. However, I am not entirely convinced that the addition of the padlock shank at the top is worth it, as I would imagine that it would have limited use/appeal. The two mounting holes on the top will potentially allow rain/moisture to get in, it’s a shame that this key safe doesn’t come with two rubber grommets to block the holes when not being used with the shank. The instructions seem to suggest that you have the padlock style shank in place even when screwed to a surface, but to me this doesn't look good and provides a way to leaver the box off the wall etc.The only other reservation I have with this and other key safe’s is that space is tight, it ok for small Yale like keys but longer mortice style keys, particularly if you need to lock away a few can be tricky as the internal combination mechanism takes up much of the space at the top of the box. This one is as good as any though and I was able to store quite a few keys in it.Changing the combination is easy, just move an internal switch, change the combination and then switch back.This is a good key safe, particularly if you want to lock it to something like a padlock, but if not I recommend sealing those top holes with tape or something.
