It is a straight-cut jacket (no waist shaping) so I would say it is pretty unisex. Do check the size chart as the measurements for a specific size may be smaller than for a jacket marketed for boys/unisex.

Q: Would an xsmall fit a 4 year old?

If the are currently wearing a 4-5T then yes. My daughter sometimes wears a 6T or 6 so I got ser a size Small...and it fits well.
