Brilliant purchase
I absolutely love these strings and I'm so glad I've found them. As I approach 70 my hands are beginning to stiffen and I've taken to playing a 7/8th instrument which is less demanding on the hands. But finding strings which give an optimum and professional sound on this instrument has been a challenge. These strings simulate the sound of playing on gut and they produce a lovely, subtle yet bright tone with good projection. Whilst I am used to playing with standard length guitar nails I've found that to make the best of these strings, it's better to cut them right down to use more of the flesh than is usual. And I imagine that players who choose to play without nails would love these strings too.

... research was that they were of a sympathetic and good quality product pandering to the gut string player
My understanding of these strings after research was that they were of a sympathetic and good quality product pandering to the gut string player. My experience of using them was however quite different. After replacing the three trebles on an instrument previously professionally set up for light tension strings was that of an incredible loss of intonation beyond the 4th fret!!!! Octaves across the three treble strings were hair raising! Beyond the 6/7th fret they became quite comical! I did not even bother to put the bases on as there was evidence of corrosion on them as I took them out of the packet. After a frustrating two hours of checking if I had got something wrong etc. they now reside quite correctly at the bottom on the bin!The bases I will keep to replace any future broken picture hanging wires! Having said that some of my pictures are quite precious to me so I dare say they would fail abysmally at that feat as well!Good luck if you purchase! This was just my first and last encounter with all things Aquila!

Note the ‘LIGHT TENSION’
i was thrilled to get my strings only to realize they were beginner tension/strength. The product name on amazon is not appreciably indicative of which tension you are getting. very nice feel, almost as tacky as rubber

calidad
