Hobbyboss 1:48 Scale N/AW A-10 Assembly Kit

Really well moulded, awesome detail, all round great fit, well worth the extra few quid if you want to make an A-10 at this scale, 1st I tried to make one was an old ERTL kit, was a waste of time. Was going for the Tamiya version but recommended this instead- good call. Only criticism is no option to keep some panels open to show detailed interior work but I guess if you have time could be done.

This is a good representation of a rare two seat “warthog” with plenty of detail. The Gatling cannon is a model in itself, although it is hidden once the fuselage is joined together. There are options when building, having the engine covers in the open position and the flaps down. The four piece canopy is a little flimsy so it is best to mask for painting once attached. My biggest issue is that at no point in the instructions does it mention that the nose has to be weighed to stop the model from tail sitting. I dry fitted the wings, engines, tail unit and undercarriage and kept adding weight until it was slightly nose heavy. There is a small hatch on the nose which luckily I had not yet fitted so was able to drop 20mm steel panel pins into the small space above the nose gear. I then used PVA glue to hold the pins in place and to stop any rattling. It took about 20-25 grams of weight to hold the nose down. I have a small amount of filling and sanding to do then onto painting the major components.

I purchased this as a gift for someone. They were very pleased with it.

A big kit with fantastic detail . Both engine covers can be displayed open to show engines. Complete Avenger halting gun ! Even a comes with chocks for the wheels !!
