Should've read the reviews...
First, not a 40mph boat, maybe kilometers... second, it rode tilted the whole time and there is no adjustment for that. Super bouncy, slow, and when I finally gave up and pulled it out of the lake after the first use I realized it was almost full of water. Not a good product at all

Poorly constructed, too much work to use.
This toy was not a choice due to the difficulty in getting it going from the beginning.1) The battery compartment lid on the remote control was nearly impossible to open due to cheap components and plastic. The lid is loose around the edges but the latch sticks tight so you almost end up stripping the "screw head" to unlock it. It's only a 1/4 turn latch so you have to be careful not to go 360 degrees around and strip it.2) The AA batteries don't fit well. On the two that insert + side down, it was loose. On the single battery that inserts + up it was so tight it almost broke the sides of the compartment. Then, when I pushed it in all the way down, it was too far down and wouldn't make contact with the lid contact to complete the circuit. It powers on if you hold your finger on the lid when locked. Otherwise, you have to pry the single battery up until it makes contact with the lid contact when you close and lock it. Too much hassle.3) The boat battery connecter point is way up underneath and very small contacts. You're not even sure if you've made contact when you insert it all the way. No LEDs or any indication.4) The batteries have no charge indicator light to tell you when it's fully charged. And again, the connectors to the charger cable (USB to 3 pin) are small. The connector on one battery didn't even fit. I had to charge the other one and finesse the connector with the 3 pins onto the battery connector. Another not worth it moment.I never got it running because of all the other issues so it's a dud.Recommendation: Do not buy this for your kids or you'll be hated. Move on to another toy. I'll keep trying to get this working and update the review if I do. For now, pffft, dud.

Fun but…
Overall this is a fun boat but it’s not great and given it’s price point it’s way over priced considering you can get a Traxxas for not much more, it feels cheap and good luck with getting spares, out of the box it performs fairly well in calm water, and I like it has a self righting feature, but I doubt it will hit the claimed top speed and I think it will struggle in rougher waters such as a lake, but for a bit of fun it’s fine.
