Torch Bright Enough to Light up a Whole Room
Bought this makita torch to replace another older torch I had that stopped working. Using this torch helped massively while we renovated our house. It would light up whole rooms allowing a sparky to get in and work with the mains power off. It was used for under the house as well. Proving great light to where our boiler is. The 3 functions are good and easy to use, allowing for more direct focus of the light to a certain area. The torch is lightweight so easy to carry and has a sturdy hook for hanging the light onto something to keep your hands free for working. I would definitely buy this again.

Good battery life, bright and very handy to have
Good battery life being LED, has a torch on the end and a lamp/light around the sides when used for camping/ worklight etc Usual Makita quality and if you have the batteries already great value. Bought this to replace one which went missing. Handy hook to hang up in the shed/ garage too Brilliant!

Game changer for the allotment.
For about 2 years I used a knockoff 'for Makita' LED light, after it killed a second battery I decided to get a proper Makita branded device that won't murder the batteries. I've been hugely impressed with the DML806. I use it as a site light on my allotment it gives excellent illumination covering a huge area and at a level that doesn't hurt the eyes or impair your sight when you catch it in your vision like my knock off light did. I use it with a knock off 5.0Ah battery and working for hours uses very little power. According to Makita it does 21 hours in 180° lantern mode and 11 hours in 360° lantern mode, but based on my use so far I suspect those figures are a little conservative. In torch mode it has a long wide beam and is an easy shape to carry, well balanced even with a 5Ah battery stuck on the back, but given how good the lantern mode is I rarely use it. The hook on the top is a great feature and more useful than I expected having been used to sitting my light on a flat surface, I've used it to hang the lantern on a fence, pole, post and branches. I've also found the hook handy to attach the lantern to jacket breast pocket if I'm moving about a lot or hang it from crates or equipment I'm carrying so I can see where I'm going. Best thing about the hook is it's just the right size to hang from the handlebar of my Hawksmoor 2 stroke strimmer so I can use it on the dark evenings taking the light with me instead of having to keep stopping to reposition my light source which is a total game changer.

Very good light, but pricey
Well made, bright light with a choice of 360 or 180 degree beam, or conventional torch. Workers tell me that with a 4 Ahr battery it easily lasts all day and probably longer. I use it for painting and other work in dark corners and as an "if the electrical power fails" light. 4 stars only due to the price.

Typical Makita quality
This 18V cordless LED light is the latest addition to my growing Makita family of tools. As usual with Makita, the design, materials, workmanship and operation are excellent. The light given off is really impressive. I primarily bought it with power outages in mind but I'm sure that it will have other uses as well.

Bought both this and the LXLM03 to try out. I can't bring myself to return either. This one (the DML806) is my favorite and the one I find myself going to most, over the LXLM103, over even my favorite LED flashlights, over the corded retractable shop light plugged in and ready in the garage... Were it just a lantern and flashlight it would be good. To be able to switch between full and half lantern makes all the difference. One click for full lantern, second click turns one half of the lantern off for great, bright directional light. The flashlight is weak and sad by LED flashlight standards, but is sufficient, and the battery power makes up for the shortfall in flashlight brightness. It's sturdy, and stands up on its own on most flat surfaces, even those not perfectly flat. It also has a really neat swiveling hook to hang too. Fantastic for working on the car where it's tough to use a 100 watt bulb and hard to find a place to hook or lay it. Cool to the touch, no worry about the bulb getting to hot or burning oil off of the bulb or heating up your floor mats while you're under the dash... The plastic wipes clean easily. I was also sick of having a ton of flashlights all with 3 dead AAA batteries. Spend more time hunting batteries and changing batteries than I do using flashlights. If you have the other LXT Tools, you probably know how nice the Makita LXT Tools are. You probably also keep a charged or at least partially charged battery around. Being able to pick up a quick exchange battery and have a really fantastic light/lantern ready to go is a very nice thing. I probably wouldn't recommend this alone, but if you own the batteries and charger, there's not a better more versatile light out there. I can't speak to the battery life, as I haven't worn one out with it yet. If you're camping and have ever had to haul a lantern and 2 spare lantern batteries around, you'd have to appreciate the convenience of this. A LXT Battery and a spare would take up less space and weigh less than one set of lantern batteries, never mind a spare.
