This bag is just the right size and material for a gym bag. It has the strap you can secure your yoga mat to the top like it shows in the photo. There are a few mesh pockets on the inside and a big spacious divided pocket on the outside. Straps are extra sturdy and durable at the top where you carry the bag. It is plenty spacious for everything you need. I carry a large water bottle, bulky size sunglasses case, big toiletry bag, travel size umbrella, running shoes, flip flops, change of clothes, bathing suit, bathing suit cover-up, and more and still have room and it's not too heavy. I almost didn't buy the bag because of the price but it is well worth it. I use it every single day for the gym.
