Important information for understanding U.S.-Latin American relations
Livingstone details the foreign policy that is systematically scrubbed from both the media. A crucial work for anyone who wants to know what the U.S. has done to Latin America--why did the U.S. articulate a coup in Brazil that tortured 20,000? Why did it plan and help carry out the coup that brought Pinochet to power in Chile, with 30,000 killed as a result? The U.S. role in the bloody dictatorships and civil wars of Latin America is immense and yet for the most part goes unmentioned. Scholars like Alan MacCleod and Kevin Young have documented even the U.S. liberal media's omission of the U.S. role in Latin America. Livingstone details the atrocities that our corporate-backed media apparently wish to hide.
