A safe safe for keeping safe things safe safely.
This is a well made quality item. I will be honest and say I haven't bothered with the keypad, but just use the key. It's a good size, and can easily stores all those important documents you want to keep track of, birth/marriage/divorce certificates, pet vaccination certificates, passports, bloody fidget spinners to stop that endless noise and squabbles over them, If you took the shelf out you could use it as a solitary confinement cell for a teddy bear if you are playing Guantanamo Bear with the kids. There isn't much to say about a safe. I did appreciate the very plain packaging, so you don't have to worry about putting a box in the recycling announcing to all and sundry you've just bought a safe, that's as important a security feature as anything else, people not knowing you have it. If you have medications this is a really good place to keep them, I keep my supply of very strong painkillers in it. I wish I had piles of cash to keep in it, if anyone wants to send me some piles of cash tp see how it keeps them safe just drop me a line, I can't guarantee their return in the post though. I put a tenner in it, it looked very lonely, but was still there after a few days unlike money in my wallet that seems to evaporate.

Fair for price
Will do the job as a domestic safe, but the door mechanism sticks occasionally and has to be twiddled with to open and close. Overall satisfied for the price. Is a heavy piece if kit and should deter theft.

poor and I had to refer back to the supplier ...
The product itself came quickly and appears to be substantial. The reason that I have given it only three stars relates to the securing expansion bolts and the instructions that came with the safe. The security bolts did not appear to me to be sufficiently robust to make ripping the safe off the wall too difficult a task. I have therefore bought more substantial bolts and fitted them (the same as a previous reviewer). The instructions are, to say the least, poor and I had to refer back to the supplier (who in turn had to approach Chubb) for clarification. The instructions cover 16 languages and are, primarily, in diagram form (presumably, to save translation costs) but they are very unclear and inexact. In particular, there is a diagram of something being injected into the drill holes in the wall/floor but it doesn't say what it is (oil, filler, foam? [the image on the side of the "injector" suggest foam] but it is, in fact, air to clean out the drill holes! Similarly, when setting up the code it indicates (if you look carefully!!) that there is something on the reverse of the front door which needs to be pressed first but you have to look very closely to find it - not least because it isn't located where the diagram suggests either!.Finally, the diagram indicates that in saving the code that has been entered you have to press both the star and hash keys but that is not the case (what you have to do, in practice, is to press the star button, then the code and then the star button again). The hash key seems to be entirely superfluous. So, what appears to be a pretty good safe (and on its own would probably merit at least four stars) is rather spoilt by the issues that I have set out above.Hope that is helpful for future users and saves you a lot of time (knowing those points would certainly have saved me a great deal of time and angst!)

This is a nice little safe
This is a nice little safe, and well made. Takes A4 no problem, and with a centre shelf. As they say on Amazon comments, the instructions are RUBBISH and I have yet to manage to set the key pad code. Chubb should be ashamed of themselves for producing a good product with such deplorable instructions. I am awaiting their response

Excelent product. Easy to set up and operate
With the valuables locked away in this i no longer have to worry when we go away weekends or on holidays. Probably not suitable for the crown jewels, but for what i want to keep safe it suits me fine.

Seems to be of good quality
The only way you know if a safe is any good is when someone tries to break into it. So my rating reflects only the quality of how I think it is made. In this regard the safe appears to be well made and the locking mechanism seems to be of good quality. I honestly don't want to find out the hard way that it isn't as good as I think it is but visually I'm sure it will be a deterrent to any would be burglar.

Instructions and fixings were awful
Instructions were appalling, almost completely pointless they were that bad. And the fixings were inappropriate in my view, the only way to get them through the hole was to remove the outer tube, place this in the hole to start with and then put the screw through the safe and screw into the tube. However, the item with the thread was not attached to the tube so there was a high chance they would get lost in the hole rendering the fixing useless. The product is solid enough but everything that comes with it is very poor.

I feel safer with my safe
Now I know where my valuables are.I used longer, thicker securing bolts but that was my choice. It's easy to use and I feel happier when away from home.I would recommend this product.
