Writing Fantasy (The Ultimate Guide and Complete Reference Book)

As both a fantasy writer and editor, I am very excited to have this reference book in my collection! The information covers everything from coming up with a book title to marketing and publishing the final product. The information is comprehensive but presented in manageable, even bite-sized sections. That said, the book itself is not bite-sized. I didn't have a problem with the size, but anyone with shorter shelves should be aware that this is a tall book - but it makes use of the page size with both printed information and some great sketches for additional reference! Overall, I highly recommend this book for fantasy authors! It's a must-have in your reference book collection.

I am planning to write a fantasy book someday so I bought this book and I'm so glad I did! Have barely started it and already have found it way more helpful than the writing fiction book I read! I love that it lists a tone of different fairytale creatures and stuff about them! If you love fantasy or planning to wrote fantasy then you need to buy this book!!!!

Absolutely loved reading this book. It has everything you need if you’re writing in fantasy genre. It came at the right time (writer’s block) and now I’m inspired to look at my writings and maybe add more.

It has so much information I like it

This is basically a handy reference guide with lists so you can build your worlds and characters quickly. Very useful to have on hand when you're writing scifi or fantasy and you need quick ideas.

Loved it. 296 pages of well researched terms, definitions, examples, chock full of details. I have been a fantasy gamer for 50 years, writing for 12 and I still picked up countless gems here. The research is impressive. Explained in detail. Organized, clear. This was not a fluff book. This is the kind of thing you read once all the way through, taking notes, then keep for reference and ideas. Well worth the asking price. A LOT of work and care involved in writing this, and it shows. Highly recommended for the beginner fantasy author, and intermediate author with a few books out, for the sheer amount of ideas and research.

As a new fantasy writer, I lacked some knowledge of the genre I love. With this book, I was able to create some badass world-building.

This book is amazing! I use it for inspiration, guidance and as an overall work of reference. The explanation and the lists available are really great to get imagination flowing. If you write fantasy, I would say this is a must-have.
