Simply an amazing lens.
Using the om1 with star lock I was able to capture a 30 second exposure of the night sky. Of note the streak is a falling star that was too faint to see by eye. And it takes wonderful pictures of flowers for which the manual focus switch on the lens greatly simplified getting the shot.

One missing element
Will do follow up the review soon, but initial impressions of the lens is that it is solid and built well but the one complaint coming from the 12-40 2.8 PRO is that the lens manual focus feels a lot less "smooth" this one feels as though there was less effort put into it or something. The lack of the buttery smooth manual focus is something that will be missed on this 17 1.2 PRO but none the less already impressed. Definitely should have bought the 17 1.8 but l do love bokeh.Update 09/21/2018Definitely love this lens it really adds to my lens collection of already owning the 12-40mm 2.8 lens but gives the extra bokeh where I dont have it. I mainly take photos for instagram and seldom when my friends ask me to but I find that this lens is still built to a very high quality especially sitting on my OMD EM10 MKII body. Even though the lens has a wide focal length I feel like it suites a lot of situations still when I want that prime or the zoom lens. I honestly switch between them constantly, both lens especially the 17mm are so sharp whether it is wide open so shooting at 1.2mm is always fun.

Best 35mm lens for micro 4/3
If you have a micro four thirds body and want the best 35mm lens, then this is it. Just know it’s a 35mm F2.4 equivalent and it’s the same size as 35mm 1.8 lenses for full frame. It’s actually heavier than most of those. I had it for almost 2 years and was very happy with the performance. You can use it wide open all day.

Nothing to complain about
One of my favorite lenses ever is the Olympus M Zuiko 25mm 1.2 lens. Built solid. Focuses quick. Amazing bokeh. Even focuses well at night. When I received my M Zuiko 17mm 1.2 lens from Amazon and mounted it on my Olympus PEN F, other than the obvious difference in focal length, I literally could not tell the difference between it and my 25mm 1.2. Built the same. Same quick autofocus. Same bokeh. I had to look at the engraving on the lens to differentiate the two lenses. Amazing quality lens. The Olympus microfourthirds system is perfect for street photography. And their lenses keep me with Olympus and not Panasonic.

Olympus makes great lenses.
Let me say something right off the bat the Panasonic 15mm 1.7 is a great and much less expensive alternative to this lens. I own both lenses and use both of them on different bodies. The Olympus 17mm 1.2 is worth it's money as it's weather sealed, has that awesome snap-back manual/autofocus switching mode and of course awesome bokeh. But if I was starting out with MFT I would consider other Olympus lenses first (in particular the 75mm 1.8 or 45mm 1.2). But if it's a 35mm full frame equivalent you want with the best bokeh available for MFT you really don't have a choice at this point ... then buy this lens.

Excellent Lens
This lens performs exactly as expected on my PEN. Great quality, brightness, and all the visual options an f1.2 allows. Fully satisfied.

Great Wide Angle Lens and Extremely Fast and Sharp as a Tack, Edge to Edge👍👍
This Olympus Lens is truly a 5 Star lens. I own all the MZuiko Micro4/3 PRO lenses produced by Olympus. Every one of them has exceeded my every expectations. I use this and all my other Oly MZuiko PRO Lenses with my 2 Olympus OMD-EM1's, OMD-EM1 MkII, OMD-EM1 MkIII, OMD-EM1X and my 2 Great little Pen-F's. All perfectly matched. I highly recommend this Pro 17mm f1.2 lens, as well as ALL The Other MZuiko Pro Lenses in their Line-up.

Super impressed with this lens
I bought this lens primarily for streetscapes and environmental portraits in low light. Having now travelled with it in multiple European cities with their atmospheric streets and laneways, mounted on a Pany G9, I’m super impressed.Even at f1.2 it instantly nails focus as well as providing great subject separation and creamy bokeh. At night, it works better than any other lens I’ve owned, and that’s quite a few. Focus is so quick and reliable that I developed the technique, when spying a composition, of switching the camera on at the hip, positioning myself as necessary, simply raising the camera to my eye and popping the shutter once or twice, immediately lowering the camera. This way, nobody noticed, or at least nobody took offence, to being photographed.I also discovered several uses I hadn’t thought of. Firstly, for wonderful moody and artistic shots of objects, rooms and people in museums and galleries. And secondly at the opera where I set the camera to ISO 800 (only very slight image noise), aperture priority at f1.2, and took flashless photos of the performers on stage. It produced wonderfully toned images at a shutter speed that avoided artist motion blur, and it instantly and utterly nailed focus. Every. Single. Shot.So instead of carting five or six lenses on travels, I can now take just two: a regular zoom (Pany 14-140) for all the usual daytime stuff. And this lens for when a composition or low light demands. Heaven on a stick. Even when it rains, since both lenses and the camera are weather-resistant.

Pro in all ways but one
It's a great lens. It is clear, it is fast. It is heavy (especially for MFT). It's built like a tank. It's a terrific instrument. I found it has one Achilles heel element - flair. Even with the lens hood, it struggles with flair and washout when pointed towards the sun. This is kind of normal for lens of its age and technical build complexity. There are a lot of glass elements to manage light in a such a fast lens.I didn't like this compromise, so I traded it in for the Oly 20mm f1.4. The 20mm is slower, smaller, slightly less resolving but it handles shooting towards light sources better. That being said, the 17mm f1.2 is a very good lens. You just have to know what its strengths and weakness are and play to its strengths.Good luck and keep shooting.
