Enid Blyton Famous Five Series, 21 Books Box Collection Pack Set (Complete Gift Set Collection)

Got this as a gift for friend tween age kids and they gobbled it up. All excited to read the stories that I enjoyed so much as a kid. Excellent stuff!

Hard to find this series in the U.S. Elementary aged child who is an advanced reader and loves mysteries, is a fan of this series. We don’t like some of the words used by the kids to other kids, like calling the cousin “idiot” but they are great stories. They open doors to talking about the time period, language, the culture, etc. As an adult, I too enjoy listening to the stories as my young reader reads them aloud.

Bought these for my cousin's litter - he and his wife have 2 boys, 2 girls and a dog, and that brought back memories. When I was a kid, I would read these by flashlight under my blanket because they were too good to put down and my mom wanted me to go to sleep. You see, the school had complained that I was falling asleep during classes... Reading them now they seem a little corny, but they are so perfect for someone around 12 years old or so. Suspense, drama, fun, friendships, etc. And somehow the parents are never there or they are occupied, so the kids have to solve the mysteries all by themselves.

Bought as a birthday present. Packaging was great, delivered on time, and books were perfect. Daughter enjoys reading the Famous Fives adventures!

I grew up in Australia and New Zealand watching the British Famous Five series on tv. These books come in a box and are great stories to read to my 9 and 11 year old boys each night at bed time. They are very easy to read and generally have the same theme of some really bad guys out to steal something from a very good person, with four kids and their dog, Timmy, stopping the bad guys and saving the day. The kids get to go off on the most ridiculous trips without any parental supervision, which is probably why my kids love these stories so much. They always want me to read "just one more chapter" to them! I often see the boys quietly reading these books the next morning because they just can't wait until the next bedtime to find out what happened :-). Note that some of the characters are somewhat gender and class profiled (these books were first published in 1947), which is irritating but George, who is actually Georgina, is a strong willed tom boy who I think my boys very much admire and respect. It's also great for the boys to hear English words that are not so often used these days.

I loved Enid Blyton as a child. I was thrilled to get the complete “Famous Five” set and have been recording them on an app and sending them to my grandchildren to listen to me read books out loud. They love them too. Some things have changed - attitudes about gender roles - but the stories have stood the test of time. Who doesn’t like an adventure with hidden passages?

This is a gift, and it’s also expensive. When it arrived, the Amazon box was in good shape, but the actual books were in a battered display box wrapped in torn plastic. It’s for my son, so it’s not the end of the world, but it’s disappointing.

My wife got these for our daughters and reads them these stories every night. The box is high-quality and the books have the old artwork which is really cool and nostalgic.

Wow, I wasnt expecting these books to be brand new but they are! Over the moon. Haven't took the plastic wrap off as they're an Xmas gift but everything looks to be as it should. Made up!! X

The books are fine, all 21 are there. But does not come in compilation box, just wrapped in plastic. This edition comes with old style illustrations on cover and inside. I like that over the more modern editions, because the language and the setting of the stories matches the illustration style very well.

A very nostalgia series book moment from my younger days

多読のSSSサイトで紹介されていたfamous fiveの全21巻コレクションです。 ざっくり計算で約100万語、この価格で読めます！安い！ 読みやすさレベルは4.0-5.0です。 A to Z mysteries(3.5-4.5)がスラスラ読めるようになったので挑戦しましたが、ぐっと難しくなります。 1文1文が長くなり、ところどころ古めかしい表現が多いです。特に動詞が、不規則動詞で一瞬知らない単語に見えます。speedの過去形でspedとか。まあchoose-chose-chosenなどから想像つくので慣れたらいけます。kindleだと辞書機能があるので大丈夫でした。 1話の最初になかなか入り込めず、このシリーズを読む前にfamous five shortstoriesを2冊購入して、そっちはフルイラストつき、ちゃんと同じ作家さんの短めでとっつきやすいお話だったので、人名や性格などをしっかり理解して戻ってきて読みました。 時系列的にはshortstoriesはこの1巻のあとの話なので、ネタバレ(そんな大したものじゃないですが)が嫌ならこっちを先に読んでください。 1巻の途中まではついていくのに精一杯でアップアップしましたが、途中から緊迫してきて一気に面白くなり、先を読みたくてどんどん進みました。 古き良き冒険小説で、子供たちの個性も微笑ましく、子供から大人まで楽しめる作品だと思います。
