Gritty in a smooth pleasant way
To say my husband loves it is an understatement. It is nice and gritty and gets him clean. It is a bit pricey. But, he keeps dropping hints that he would like more. This will be a stocking stuffer for Christmas. Also, it does look a bit like coal so that only makes it humorous.

You pay for what you get!
Product seems to be working for me. Since my use I've received several compliments in how my face skin appearance has cleared up and has a glow. I now have a daily routine with my face. I was very skeptical at first investing into products that are more expensive than most. But the reward has been beneficial.

Double soap bar—cleans and exfoliates.
The Lumin Men's Charcoal Body Soap is a large bar of two completely soaps. This two-in-one bar of soap works for both cleaning and exfoliating. The large white bar of soap has a smaller, round black charcoal soap inside it. The white bar of soap lathers well. It has a light scent of bergamot that is citrusy and fresh. It reminds me slightly of Earl Grey tea, which also contains bergamot. The sales page says that the soap contains both white and black charcoal. I’m guessing here, but I think the white charcoal is in the white soap, and the black charcoal the black soap. The soap also contains tea tree oil. The bar weighs 7.2 ounces, it will last for a lot of showers. The inner circle of black charcoal exfoliating soap also contains walnut shells. At first, it seems like the exfoliating circle doesn’t do much. After a few uses, it starts to work much better. Maybe there is a soap or film over it that needs to wash away? Once the exfoliating soap starts working, it really works well. I would recommend only using it on places like elbows or heels—not sensitive skin. My teenage son and husband both liked the fresh scent. They said the soap lathers well and rinses easily, and the large size bar is convenient, though a little heavy at first. All in all, a nice men’s soap for daily cleaning and for deeper exfoliation.

very expensive.
it's hard to justify the expense for a product that eventually washes down the drain. I'm reviewing the one pack of Lumens Activated Charcoal Soap. I've used charcoal soap before and found it effective for oily or acne-prone skin. This bar is a good size, and contains white charcoal for added..it's a fine product but very expensive.

Scrubs and has a pleasant scent
Right out of the box you can see that this is an attractively designed soap. It has a look to it that accents any modern bathroom. The bar itself is about twice as thick as other soap bars I have used. My hands are average in size and it took a little getting used to hanging on the large bar. Though this soap has a pleasant scent that you just can’t beat. The scent stays with me and makes me smell great all day. There are scrubbing particles in this soap that are released from the black circle in the middle of the bar. The particles feel like sand on my skin as I wash. It’s not the best feeling but they do scrub my skin and help get it clean. The soap lathers up very well and washes off cleanly. It does not make me feel like I have a film on me. After bathing my skin is clean, soft and slightly dry. The ingredients in this soap are different than what I usually see. I am not sure why it needs to have Sucrose in it. And I would feel more comfortable using this soap if it did not have some ingredients like: Dyproplyene Glycol, PEG-45M and Titanium Dioxide. While this soap bar is large and may last twice as long as other soaps the price is still more than twice as much as I would normally pay for bar soap. For the most part I like this soap. It does get me clean and leave me smelling great. But due to its price and the ingredients it will only be a once in a while soap for me.

The scent and it's exfoliating are "bar" none!
I gotta admit something. I never used anything designed specifically for my face/beard. I've always used just body washes and the like for my whole body and face. That changes today. You can totally feel a difference when you use an exfoliating soap, and this one has become my absolute favorite. My girlfriend LOVES the smell on me, and the design of the bar is very fancy. The soap is very simple to use as well: You can either rub up a lather in your hands, then proceed to rub the foamy soap onto your skin, or do what I like to do, and take the whole bar, and scrub it into your face. There is a generous amount of grit to the soap, that you can really feel it opening up your pores and scrubbing away the dead skin and oils. Those walnut shells they pack into the soap truly make the difference. This is going to be my go to face soap going forward. The picture I took is after one use in the shower. I really want people to see how much grit is in the soap.

The Lumin deep scrub face bar came in a small box. When opening the box you are presented with a cuboid shaped block wrapped in a protective plastic. When wrapped you could smell a pleasant smell, and as the wrapper was removed the aroma intensified. Despite the strong aroma it did dissipate after a few minutes, so was not overwhelming. Before using the bar it has a nice feel in the hand, and looks excellent with its crisp black and inset white triangle. Obviously the appearance of the bar is not all that important, but it is appealing and looks much better than your typical bar of soap. (and I don't mind it remaining out on display in my soap dish!) The black surface feels abrasive, and the white inset triangle has a much softer and smoother feel. As you wet the bar and start to form a lather you can better feel the abrasive characteristic of the black soap. I have very sensitive skin and found that I wouldn’t want to rub for long, however, with that said it only took a small amount of time to make a noticeable impact on the softness of my skin, and I can only assume the white moisturizer helped on that front. Obviously one “treatment” will not make a meaningful difference, but after using the bar for about one week I do notice a real difference in the feel of my skin. I was concerned that the black colour would show on my skin and perhaps even leave a residue – this was simply not the case. You will see in one photo that the lather is not too black and the product is very easy to rinse away. I did not use the white section specifically against my skin, but it seems to contribute to the overall lather, and when the side with the white insert was rubbed directly on the skin it was less rough - so was good for more sensitive areas. One week in and there is very little wearing down of the bar, it clearly will last a good long time. Overall Verdict? Nice smell, works well to exfoliate and seems to have left my face softer. I recommend this product.

What's included: - Deep scrub face bar soap 140 grams The bar soap by Lumin is certainly eye catching and quite effective, but I cannot comment about a couple of the claims. One thing that I immediately noticed is the design of the soap. This is a square block soap with an unmistakable white triangle on one side that is impossible to miss. The soap is actually 155 grams which is well above the 140 grams listing. I have reviewed several soaps and this is the first one that I have come across that is considerably over its listed weight which was a pleasant surprise. Using the soap is a little awkward at the beginning because it is as square as you can get and it takes a while to start to deteriorate with use over time. It becomes clear that as I used the soap that there were little pebbles or powder that end up coming off the soap and so I was a little careful when washing my face with the soap as a result. I couldn't quite make out what the residue coming off the soap is, as it might be the walnut shell powder? I can't say for certain, but as an exfoliating soap it works well. Let me point out that the soap residue or powder comes off of the black portion and could also be related to the charcoal powder which is more likely the case. In any event, the white portion of the soap is smoother without any powder being released by the soap. Washing my hands and face with the soap feels very good and the aroma is pleasant but not strong which is my preference. If I had to rate it between 1 and 10 with 10 being a very powerful aroma, say, something like an Irish Spring bar soap, then I would say this is around a 4 or 5. There are a couple of ingredients that I am not a fan of including sodium laurate. On the other hand, I really do like the inclusion of charcoal powder although sourcing is not noted in the ingredients or listing. It is also worth noting that glycerin is the first ingredient. In terms of lather, there is sufficient lather, although I have always noted that lather does not equal efficacy. When I try to evaluate bar soaps, I tend to focus on what's included and what is not, as well as efficacy. In my opinion, the list of ingredients is just above average but this is not a natural soap by any means. In terms of efficacy, the soap works quite good but I can't comment on claims about dealing better with oily skin and so forth because it's not really applicable to me. What I will say, is that this soap does clean effectively and it does not leave a feeling of having layer of suds on my face like some others. While I would recommend this soap, I would point out that there are all natural options in and around the same value, including ones that contain charcoal that might be worth investigating, at the same time, there is no mistaking the eye catching look to this soap should you place it in a guest bathroom etc. I also like the fact that the bar soap came in heavier than noted which is rare to see so I do enjoy getting more than I expected. Final verdict is that I would recommend, particularly because of the charcoal powder and efficacy at cleaning. Cheers,

This soap is huge in size. A normal person is hard to hold it tight with one palm and apply the soap on body. I prefer half of the size and one piece can be divided into two. Other than that, the body soap is very mosturizing and you have a deep clean feeling after using it. There is no scent to smell which is good for the people who has scent allergy.

This Lumin soap bar is the biggest bar of soap I've ever seen. I'm a woman, and I actually have a tough time hanging onto this soap in the shower, because it's just too large for my hands. My husband doesn't have this problem. The soap smells really nice! It contains tea tree oil, but it doesn't smell overwhelmingly like tea tree oil. It's more an herbal scent - quite light, doesn't linger. The soap lathers well and rinses cleanly. It doesn't strip my skin, like a lot of bar soaps have the tendency to do. The black dot in the center of the soap is exfoliating. Very cool! It makes it easy to exfoliate where needed (elbows, knees) and then I just flip the bar over (all white side) to wash the rest of my body. It's so convenient being able to wash and exfoliate with the same product. This gigantic 205 gram bar of soap is quite dense. Bar soap tends to shrink/dissolve when stored in the shower, but not this one. The bar stays firm and intact while using it, it doesn't get squishy and fall apart. No waste. Verdict: recommended.

Lumin - Deep Cleanse & Scrub Body Bar for Men - Made of Natural Ingredients: Bamboo Charcoal, Tea Tree Oil, Walnut Shell, Eco-Friendly Skincare, No Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates, or Animal Testing, Daily Use 4.25* $9.99 Giftable. Part of a range that consists of deep cleanse shampoo, deep scrub face bar and deep cleanse and scrub body bar. This is the dual-texture soap bar incorporating dark and light charcoal to scrub, deep cleanse and refresh the skin. It Iathers fairly copiously and it smells nice whilst it's doing its job. The exfolient part is initially quite rough so care is required to ensure that more sensitive areas aren't damaged. People with smaller hands may initially find the bar difficult to wield, particularly when wet, as it is a larger bar. On the whole, skin feels refreshed after usage, without the sometimes soapy dryness that can occur. Very much a matter of personal taste. I quite enjoy using it. Decent price. Try some.
