Samsung T5 EVO Portable SSD 8TB, USB 3.2 Gen 1, Up to 460MB/s

This storage drive is an exceptionally powerful and efficient device. While it comes with a higher price tag, it offers a reliable solution for data storage that maintains optimal temperatures and provides rapid data transfer speeds. I utilize this drive to back up all of our music files for our mobile DJ service. I am considering buying another for everyday business use.

Enormous SSD storage. Sure - it's a little slow, but still at least as fast as most spinning drives. Compact - stays cool even under intense use editing and moving lots of extremely large video files.

Had to leave this review. This is the by far one of the best external hard drives (SSD) ever. I have had it a little over a year and a half and it's super portable. Hard to believe 8TB fits on such a compact device. Well worth the money if you need the portability and space. Perfect for daily use while using other larger memory for backups.

BAD - I was only getting 70-90 MB/s when directly wired in. Way lower than the 400 MB/s advertised. Less that 25% of what is advertised.

I use an external computer drive to store media files for use with my iTunes music and video library. This SSD, at the new price point, is great value for so much storage with the amazing access speed and reliability advantages over any hard disk device, which is what I am replacing. I also like that I can easily plug it into any of my other devices, such as phone or tablet, to use the media or to share very large files between the devices. SSDs are clearly now at a price-storage point where fully abandoning hard disks is easy. The fact that I have put many such devices through the wash and dry cycles when I left them in a pocket is just the cherry on top (but I would note that although pretty small compared to disks, it seems unlikely I would leave this one in a pocket).

Very easy to use! I love the write speeds. I use it as a place to sit all my hundreds of hours of indoor volleyball content. It's very small size makes it very convenient; pretty much a high capacity thumb drive. I ended up getting 2 of them because they're just so convenient and can hold 8TB!!!

Incredibly small and fast. Fits in your pocket. Holds way more than that. Pricing vs quality is great. Very easy to use - though it may be important to note I am using with a Samsung ecosystem. Not sure if that helps overall performance but if you are using Samsung definitely work with these.

The samsung ssd works well, but is limited on speed by design. The interface is USB 3.2 gen1 so it is limited to similar speeds to a sata ssd, 450MB/s is the highest I have seen and under normal use it is more around 200MB/s. It runs cool even under high load due as much to the slow interface speed as anything. I have read some reports indicating issues with disconnecting and drive stability issues but have seen no issues in my use and considering it is 8TB the first time I filled it up (averaging 90MB/s) it was running as fast as it could for over 24 hours, no disconnects, no errors, good CRC test at the end (which also took about 8 hours due to interface speed) It is plug and play on PC and Mac and has more than enough space to backup even the highest Mac laptop spec. If there is a negative to take away the ssd uses QLC NAND so it does have an inherently shorter lifespan but for most users that should not be reached under normal use.

Awesome product!!! I am a YouTuber and I have SO MUCH DATA!!! Video files are huge and I have a bunch of external drives to hold archives, but they are the regular mechanical ones. They take time to connect, they make noise, and I'm always worried about a mechanical failure. This is the Solid State Drive and it connects FAST and is totally silent - it's wonderful! I use it now for all kinds of files I use regularly - it doesn't bother me to have it connected to my computer all the time.

I need to lug around huge amount of data weekly. I don't really run anything from the disk, so speed is not really a concern for me. Just storage. So this one is perfect. 8TB in that size and weight, without additional power adaptor just great. It may not be the speediest SSD, but it still feels fast and snappier compare to other SATA external hard drive. And it runs cool, the external rubber glove also helps to make it cooler to touch too. Also, the rubber glove attract dust, but it's smooth and easy to clean. It came pre-formatted in exFAT, but my mac couldn't read it. Windows has no problem, it can detect and use the drive straightaway. I re-formatted the drive with my mac with exFAT, and works perfectly for both Mac and Windows. This is the only problem that I encounter. Overall, if you need the huge amount storage space and the portability, this one is a great product.
