Kryptonite Evolution Long Shackle Bike U-Lock, 14mm Steel Bicycle Lock

No bike lock will stop a determined and well-equipped thief. That said, this one's more likely to cause them to pick on somebody else - if they aren't the sort who destroys what they cannot steal. I get a good-quality lock because I want to have a chance to ride home, not because I have an expensive bike, and in my experience, this is a good-quality lock. Also, from personal experience, use the lock at home, too, We lost a treasured hand-assembled hybrid to a B&E jerk who was after electronics - and rode off on an irreplaceable custom that I'm sure got torn up.

This is a sturdy lock, somewhat cheaper than the "forgetaboutit" New Yorker, and there is a reason, but you need to see the "lockpickinglawyer" on youtube for the explanation. But it does come with a 1 year insurance policy, which requires you send them the broken lock and your bike needs an appraisal. This is an AWESOME lock. If you haven't used a u-lock, this is the one you want to give a try. The lock is hard to unlock, but use it a few times you will get it.

I’m aware that I could’ve bought this item for less if I hadn’t been in such a hurry, but I needed a new lock fast. I got it from 365 Cycles because it included next-day delivery. Kryptonite’s mounting instructions are terrible, and the wrench is useless. Despite those two irritations, I’m still giving it five stars, mostly because of fast delivery and a quality brand. Also, the locking mechanism on the Evolution New-U works more smoothly than the Keeper.

The keyhole is on the barrel of the lock cylinder with the key entering perpendicular to the barrel which makes it easier to lock/unlock compared to the usual keyhole on the side of the lock cylinder. Extra long length permits lock to go around structures that shorter locks can't reach. Key appears to be very high security (unlike a house key).

Jesus Christ this is a terrible bike lock! The lock was fighting back when I was trying to lock up my bike and the key kept getting jammed! Truly the worst bike lock I’ve ever had! Do not waste your money on this garbage please!

Works well! Easy to use, large! But it being large is a downside too, I could not get it to mount on my bike nicely/without it being in the way, so now I just have to carry it in a bag behind my bike instead. Other than that though, it's a great product so far. Seems very very sturdy, difficult to cut through, even though I've heard that people have cut them...hope it doesn't happen to me!

UPDATE 5/30- Kryptonite asked for a pic of the damage, which I sent. They immediately shipped me a new lock and sent me a ups label to send the damaged one back. All during the Covid-Crazy! First rate service, nice to get that these days. UPDATE 5/15- Was tightening the spline screw with the supplied wrench and the screw stripped out. Later, on my first ride with it mounted, the spline loosened and the lock rotated in the mount and was rubbed by the back tire, damaging the finish on the shackle down to the metal. Submitted ticket, guess I'll see what they say. This is a beast of a lock. Heavy if that matters to you. Key and bolt operation is smooth as silk. Only con is the mount, I'm scared the lock is heavy enough to break it if I hit a curb or other sharp bump. Only time will tell. It would also be nice if the mount was designed to be moved, as it is when you cut the rubber and strap you're stuck with that size. But the lock itself is great, 5 stars!

Mi piace un sacco! Appena arriva ti dà la sensazione di un oggetto molto resistente ed importante. Il peso me lo aspettavo ancora maggiore dal momento che è la linea con l'arco più lungo. Se non fosse stato così non sarei mai riuscita ad infilare la fiido m1 a quel palo che vedete in foto dietro le bici. Speravo di poter legare due bici insieme ma purtroppo temo non sia molto fattibile. Ne prenderò uno anche per la fiido d4s. L'aggancio alla bici inoltre è estremamente comodo . Robusto e intelligente per il posizionamento nonostante non sia affatto poco ingombrante. Speriamo tenga a dovere!!!

Gut, aber echt groß, also überdenken, ob eine Nr kleiner nicht besser wäre.
