Charnwood W824P Package Deal: Midi Lathe with Viper2 Scroll Chuck

I first bought the lathe in 2018 along with chuck combined deal. It is now 5 years old,I have machined hundreds of pieces of work over the past 5 years, to date I have had 100 % reliability, everything has worked perfectly including the chuck and Jaws of which I have 5 sets. I cannot fault this product and would buy again with confidence.

Got this machine delivered by Charnwood on August 24th 2019. Used for 10 minutes and the machine started to lose power. Called Charnwood helpline on a Saturday but no answer. Eventually got someone on the Monday and they sent a replacement speed control box within 2 days. After fitting myself the power problems were resolved but there was a new fault with the digital rpm display. Called again and they wanted to take the machine in for repair, at this point I asked for either a replacement machine or refund and they offered a refund. This is now the 06/09/2019 and I’m left with having to find another wood lathe.I also asked if I could keep the Viper 2 chuck that came with the machine and pay for this separate, as I had ordered additional jaws for this, I was told no. The after sales at Charnwood has been horrendous and I would definitely not recommend. I would have given 0 stars if allowed.

As a beginner at wood turning I found this package was just what I needed and at a very good price.
