I’ve had this fitted for just under a week now and I’m completely happy with it.I only needed the motor itself for my build as I have a custom controller but I have tested the included controller and display for the sake of this review.On the included controller:The hub motor runs absolutely flawlessly and pretty quiet, acceleration is good and top speeds are around 33mph while ridden with this set up. The display is quite basic but does allow you to go through a few settings and more than adequate for most peoples needs.The kit is the cheapest I could find at the time with a discount voucher available taking this down to £158.99 which is insanely good value for money. Any others at this price point haven’t included a display and have been really cheaply made. This one has a decent hub motor, the rim is black coated so matches my front wheel and includes the following;Throttle - Twist grip, it offers good speed control and as it’s a twist style, it’s easy to hold your speed easily.Controller bag - Big enough for the controller and all the spare wiring to fit inside nicely, makes for a pretty tidy build. (I haven a controller box which is waterproof so haven’t needed to use this)Brake cut offs - For those with cable brakes, these cut offs are suitable for you guys. They cut off the motor when you apply the brakes. Crucial for those using pedal assist as there’s a delay between stopping pedalling and the motor cutting out. (I have high end hydraulic brakes so these aren’t fitted on my bike so I have an after market magnetic cut off fitted)Display - Offers speed and power adjustment(5 levels) so you can choose the best speed for your current journey type. Also has battery capacity display so you know how much you have left.Controller - 1000w 48v. Good amount of power and torque. Also has a power limiter wire to restrict the power and top speeds to 15.5mph… This doesn’t make the kit legal for road use as the kit is marked 1000w but will satisfy most police officers provided you’re being sensible. This does run the motor pretty quietly, though there is still some sound from the motor.Pedal assist sensor - Works well enough for most but as there are only 5 magnets, it does take longer to kick in. I installed my 12 magnet sensor on my build as it switches on assist a lot faster.Hub motor and wheel assembly - good quality rim, thick spokes and a well built motor. Also includes a tire which I replaced with my own as I wanted a chunky off road one on mine.Cable tidy pieces - enough to give you a decent looking finished product.With this set up the kit is far better than I expected and I’m more than happy with it.As I mentioned, I have used my own controller for this as it’s custom and offers more control - With my sine wave controller the kit is completely silent, gets upto 35mph and has more torque due to the increased peak power. However, I would happily use the included controller and display if I didn’t have my own.Range wise - I have a 48v 20ah battery which offers me between 30 and 50 miles depending on how I ride. I would recommend at least a 13ah pack to go with this which would offer 20-30 miles of range.To sum up, it’s a great conversion kit for anyone looking to get an e-bike as cheap as possible while not compromising on quality. While not necessary, I would also recommend the buyer get a waterproof controller case, hydraulic brakes and a better back wheel as the provided one is just too skinny for my liking.I’ll update if there are any issues or concerns but for now I’m happy to give a 5 star rating.
