I was hesitant, but I wanted a train for under my Christmas tree for a long time but didn't want to spend a lot. This is it!

Missing coal and passenger car.

I wanted this train for around my Christmas tree, so I set it up today to see how it goes together. The track snaps together, and there's a picture on the back of the box so you can see how to configure it. The train is very cute when it stays on the track, but I found it very difficult to set the trains on the track, hook them together, then turn on the engine. Many times the pressure from flipping the on switch on would disconnect the front train and it would take off. This happened several times and was very frustrating. Once I got the track together it was ok, but it kept popping up the first few tries. I do appreciate that it came with its own phillips head screw driver so I didn't have to go hunting for a little one to open the battery compartment. I would also have preferred it to come with batteries. With patience, I can get it running around the track, but it takes a few tries. When it's running, it's very cute.

I got this hoping it would discourage my grandson from playing with my big train. This train is a hard plastic, the track is a soft plastic but is very easy for toddlers (3~4) to snap together. The engine has a light and sound, it requires 2AA batteries. The sound doesn’t have a volume control so it is pretty loud and you have to turn the sound off after a short time. The on/off switch is on the side of the engine, it is a little tricky turning it on and off, you have to hold down the engine or it takes off without the rest of the cars. This is good for playtime with minimal supervision.

For the price, this is a pretty great train set! It’s easy enough to put together and just ads so much to our tree.

This train is a cute train for a toddler up to age 3 or 4. It needs a lot of batteries though, thats the down side of it. My son likes it and that it can turn and make noise, it lights up and can make smoke. It does sound like a train and he loves the sound of trains but it needs so many batteries that it’s off putting. The train itself looks appealing, that was my first thought when I opened the package. If you have someone that loves trains, consider purchasing this train for them, it is cute!
