I really like mechanical watches. I got my first self-winding watch over 60 years ago with money I’d earned on my paper route. It’s long gone now and I’ve had many other watches over the years. They were all good but this one stands out. It’s not connected to the internet, won’t answer my phone or tell me the weather. I does tell me the time. It displays the year and month, it has pointers to the date and day of the week, and it has a small dial to show if it is daytime or night (this last may at first appear to be superfluous but it is useful when setting the watch to ensure the day and date increment at midnight and not at noon), To me the coolest feature of the watch is only visible when it is removed from the wrist. The back of the watch is crystal so you can easily see the balance wheel and gears turning as well as the weight as it pivots with motion. The watch comes with a tool to remove links in the band. I found it made the job a lot easier. Some have said the Oleves watch is a Rolex wanna-be. I doubt anyone would seriously consider it so. The gold color around the watch face and on the push buttons on the side is obviously not real 24K gold. The watch is too thick to be a Rolex. But it doesn’t sell for the price of a Rolex. It makes a great watch for dress-up occasions. The downside to that is it needs to be worn every day to keep it wound up. The setting process is described in the included booklet but it can be tedious if you have to keep repeatedly going through it. It keeps really good analog time All of the better mechanical watches I’ve owned have listed the number of jeweled bearings somewhere on the case. In what seems a strange omission, there is no indication of any jewels in this watch. This may impact it’s lifespan but only time will tell!
