I just received the Akataka 4000 fishing reel, and I am quite pleased with the manufacturing workmanship of this product. As they advertise about the smoothness of the bearing motion - I find that the reel does spin very smoothly, and there is no backward play with the rotating rotor. The bail works very smoothly when you manually open it, and snaps shut when you immediately turn the crank handle. I am very satisfy with my purchase, and for the low price compare to the expensive name brand, this reel is a good buy.

I've used this reel (size 2000) now for about 6 months and have caught well over 100+ fish with it (mostly LMB), and I'm quite impressed. I have it paired with a G. Loomis GL3 medium fast spinning rod and 12# braid. Overall, it works great and looks great. The casts are long and the retrieve is smooth. Couldn't ask for more from a reel at this price point. I would buy again.

Would of given 5 star but im a novice fisherman so 4.5 stars it is. Used this reel for 6 hours and had no problems with it. Reels in smooth and at a good pace. Color looks good in person aswell

This is a really nice reel for the price,Butter smooth and well balanced. Cast like a dream and the drag is also smooth. I got the 2000 version and is perfectly balanced with my 6’8” spinning rod. I caught couple fish and the reel handle it well. Also the reel looks good too,love the white with gold accents. I spool it with 12lb mono because there is lots of weeds and lilly pads where I fish and still cast very far.If you want a good quality and smooth reel the also looks good and a price the don’t break the bank don’t hesitate get this one.

This reel is perfect. I was a little hesitant at first because of the price being so low but after getting it I realized it had features that blew away most of the reels I spent double the money on. The drag is extremely smooth. The finish looks great. It handled very large catfish without a hiccup all day. I’d compare it to one of the penn battle fishing reels. As for the finish. It looks great. Not sure how it will hold up to saltwater so I plan on rinsing it off when I go salt.

This was a lightning deal. The last thing I really need is another reel but it's difficult to pass up a good deal so I thought I'd try my luck. Cranking the handle felt so smooth with little to no play. Some reels the handle has some wiggle to it, back and forth, where it connects to the main body of the reel, the Akataka didn't have any. Because I reel with my left hand I had to switch it to the other side. Like every other reel I've owned you just unscrew the cap and swap it around. There is a plastic bushing/piece that didn't stay attached to the screw and it took me a few minutes to figure out why I couldn't get the hand into the other side. I ended up putting a small screwdriver into it and took it out, put it back on the screw and re-assembled it.I would like some extra spools for different lines, that would be really great. Overall I really like the reel I received and may get a 2000 for my ultralight rods.

I love these reels!!! I purchased 3 of these about 3 years ago and they have caught some nice fish and still cast and reel great. I like them even better than my pflueger president reels that I have. Was changing out a different reel recently so I purchased this again and let me tell you, these are totally worth the money. As long as they keep selling, I'll keep buying!

I have used this reel two times and it feels pretty good. The reel is light and it looks like a good deal for the money. The only thing I am not sure about is how well the reel will last since I have not use it enough. Overall it it is a nice looking reel . Thank you
