Bosch Detector Truvo 2nd gen. (Easy one-Button handling, Simple Detection of Live Cables & Metal wall Scanner up to 70mm, in Cardboard Box)

Picked this up for a couple of DIY jobs and it’s been genuinely useful. Not as feature-packed as some more expensive models, but for basic stud/metal/live wire sensing it’s reliable and straightforward. . ✅ Detects studs, metal and live wires reasonably well . ✅ Compact, easy to hold and simple to operate . ✅ Clears up where things are behind a wall before drilling . ❌ Not the deepest or most precise detection compared with higher-end units . ❌ Sometimes needs a couple of passes to confirm what it’s picked up If you just want a no-nonsense tool to check walls before you drill or cut, this does the basics without fuss. It won’t replace pro gear, but for home DIY it’s worth having in the toolkit.

Great simple device. Previous used cheap detector and either had questionable detection and/or the tones and indicators were not clear. This could not be cleared. Green, yellow, red LEDs indicate if something was picked up and two other lights indicate if metal and/or electricity. Now a lot more confident with my DIY. Only thing i did not like is the battery compartment can be fiddly and sometimes the device doesn't fire up until the batteries have been moved about a bit. Rare miss by Bosch there. Wish I hadn't bought so many cheap detectors in the past and just went for a quality Bosch product from the beginning.

So I read the 1 star reviews and the general vibe is that it goes off randomly so can't reliably tell where the wires and pipes are. Sure enough, when I received it, I followed the quick guide and took off my Apple Watch, kept my feet bare and started testing - it was going off wildly at places that shouldn't have anything. I was testing this at my in law's house, my FIL rewired the house himself over the years and knew exactly where the wires and pipes were, and the Truvo definitely picked those up, but also going off where there shouldn't be anything. He suggested that we should put our hands on the wall, and it definitely made a difference, but we were still getting weird readings at places. Finally I pulled out the thick instruction manual (not the diagram only quick guide), and read through the instructions. There are still no mentions of putting your other hand on the wall, even though it clearly made a difference. But what interested me was when I got to the recalibration instructions. I followed it, made the mistake of doing each step at a time first try when one of the steps required 0.5 seconds timing; second try also didn't work as I waited half a second and probably went over the time; third time, flicked the switch off and on and it started blinking to indicate recalibration. Tried it after, the reading's much more stable now. The light switches, outlets, etc. all worked as expected. Empty wall no longer triggered readings. There's still one socket we're not sure about but FIL said maybe he was wrong about it as it might have come through the back of the fireplace. Everything else seems to check out. So yeah, my advice: Dig out the manual and recalibrate it first. Then when using it, in additional to the instructions, put your other hand on the wall as well - like in all the photos (but not the instructions).

One moment it tells me there is metal behind wall another pass says it's perfectly safe, and next day same pass it says there is electrical cable there. how can you trust device like this where even testing in the know cable area it says that there is cable and then 50% times it says there isn't there. Very unreliable

Great product, works great. It’s one of those gadgets you never think you need until you have it, especially if you live in a new-build, cardboard house like I do. However it does constantly beep when I hold it. (It’s me, I’m the stud…)

have to hold it in a special way to not interfere with it, and the instructions for this are not clear; when you do hold it right it's about the same as a good unbranded unit. Some of these other units have better instructions, or a shape that makes it very obvious where you cannot hold it

I was thinking of getting a multiple function one. But the starting point of why I need a wall scanner because of safety: don’t drill a hole to break anything behind. So I pick Bosch as it stated it can scan up to 70mm. I have tested it really detect live wires from 5-7cm. Accuracy is very precise. Love to use it. Very handy.

Ich habe mir das Bosch Ortungsgerät Truvo der 2. Generation für meine Renovierungsarbeiten gekauft und bin sehr zufrieden. Hier sind meine Erfahrungen: • Einfachheit: Die Ein-Knopf-Bedienung ist genial. Man schaltet es ein und kann sofort loslegen – kein kompliziertes Menü oder Kalibrieren notwendig. • Sicherheit: Das Gerät findet zuverlässig stromführende Leitungen und Metallobjekte in der Wand. Das Ampelsystem (LED-Ring) ist intuitiv: Grün bedeutet sicher, Gelb Vorsicht und bei Rot sollte man definitiv nicht bohren. • Handhabung: Es ist sehr kompakt, leicht und liegt gut in der Hand. Man fühlt sich beim Bohren einfach viel sicherer, besonders in älteren Häusern. • Qualität: Wie von Bosch gewohnt, ist die Verarbeitung top. Auch die Batterien waren im Lieferumfang enthalten, was ich sehr positiv finde. Fazit: Ein unverzichtbares Werkzeug für jeden Heimwerker. Es schützt vor bösen Überraschungen und teuren Schäden. Absolut empfehlenswert!
