Bosch Detector Truvo 2nd gen. (Easy one-Button handling, Simple Detection of Live Cables & Metal wall Scanner up to 70mm, in Cardboard Box)

I was thinking of getting a multiple function one.But the starting point of why I need a wall scanner because of safety: don’t drill a hole to break anything behind. So I pick Bosch as it stated it can scan up to 70mm.I have tested it really detect live wires from 5-7cm.Accuracy is very precise.Love to use it. Very handy.

Picked this up for a couple of DIY jobs and it’s been genuinely useful. Not as feature-packed as some more expensive models, but for basic stud/metal/live wire sensing it’s reliable and straightforward.. ✅ Detects studs, metal and live wires reasonably well. ✅ Compact, easy to hold and simple to operate. ✅ Clears up where things are behind a wall before drilling. ❌ Not the deepest or most precise detection compared with higher-end units. ❌ Sometimes needs a couple of passes to confirm what it’s picked upIf you just want a no-nonsense tool to check walls before you drill or cut, this does the basics without fuss. It won’t replace pro gear, but for home DIY it’s worth having in the toolkit.

So poorly made. Has an unbelievably complicated was of re-calibrating, and after following those steps it randomly switches off during detection. I sent it back to Bosch and the replacement does the same. The results themselves seem very random - I certainly wouldn't trust it. The batteries supplied with both the original replacement are completely dead too. Just seems like they tried to make it as cheap as possible rather than prioritising quality.

I found this detector to be really easy to use and quite accurate and lightweight to handle. My issue was the quality versus the price as it's made of mostly lightweight plastic. This wouldn't last very long on a construction site but great for home use which I'm sure is it's intended purpose especially the battery compartment, which imo is flimsy and not well designed. The detectors features are great as you can scan for wooden joists/studs, metal, and live cables. The scanning depth is 50 for cables & 70mm for metal so very good if you need too drill into studs and use long m8 lag screws ie. for hanging tv brackets.

I was a bit worried when ordering this detector as I've tried a few before in the same price range that were unreliable, but I was pleasantly surprised! The Bosh detector is incredibly easy to use, and gives accurate readings. I like that the flashing light colours and the beeping noise change to tell you how close you are from cables or studs, making it useful and accurate. The beeping sounds is not too loud and the detector is very compact, easy to move around with one hand.

have to hold it in a special way to not interfere with it, and the instructions for this are not clear; when you do hold it right it's about the same as a good unbranded unit. Some of these other units have better instructions, or a shape that makes it very obvious where you cannot hold it

I’m a single girl doing little diy and thankfully I bought this gadget. I was about to drill 2 small holes for wall plugs and something stopped me drawing my eye to electric plugs lower down the wall. This little tool, so easy to understand and use saved me distress as it showed I was about to drill into an electric cable 😱😱😱 So glad I purchased this and it was delivered super fast by Amazon. DONT TAKE RISKS..!!!

The Bosch Truvo is an excellent piece of kit. Many years ago I used to tell a joke about Sir Isaac Newton inventing a machine a machine that allowed him to see through brick walls - he called it a window! In a sense, the Bosch Truvo does this for real, as it instantly and accurately identifies the position of water pipes, steel studs, building plates and electric cables that are powered or unpowered that are hidden in plaster and cavity walls.The Bosch Truvo enabled me to drill through external brick walls with the complete confidence that I would not drill through water pipes and electric cables. This enabled me to successfully install an outdoor double gang power socket. This was needed to enable our Christmas lights to run and avoid leaving a window open during December nights to let their power cables come into our home. This always resulted in a cold and insecure room, and a loss of heat energy on winter nights.We believe the Bosch Truvo will lower our heating costs significantly this winter to the extent that it will more than cover the cost of the Bosch Truvo unit.Incredible quality and wonderful value for money, I can unreservedly recommend the Bosch Truvo as a vital piece of kit when doing electrical work around the home.

Don't buy.The sensor is faulty and doesn't work, will detect any surface as either metallic or live circuitsIf you want to waste money buy it for a prop but it will help nothing with the walls.
