Tefal Authentic Stainless Steel Pressure cooker 8.Ltr

After over thirty years of cooking with an aluminium Tefal pressure cooker, I decided to update to stainless steel. I know the connection to dementia and Al made some years ago has been disproven but, Al is soft and whilst the old cooker has plenty of life left (we'll donate it to a charity shop), it was looking a bit battered. Al is a soft metal compared to steel and whilst it produces an oxide skin, it's prone to scratching and will leach into acidic foods. I had previously put the old cooker into retirement and purchased a German stainless steel one of more conventional design. This proved unusable in the long run as the silicon seal retained the odours of cooking and could not be deodorised with vinegar, bleach or soaking in any proprietry cleaners. No such issues ever with the Tefal. So, the new pressure cooker is thinner, shinier and just as good to cook with. The heat needs to be a bit higher as stainless steel is not as good a conductor of heat. Nevertheless, it saves time and energy compared to using an ordinary pan or casserole. What's not to love???

Good quality

I have done a test run with just water and it seems to work well, but I am going to cook in it tomorrow, then I will review it again. Quality wise is good, stainless steel, 3 layer base, inox - aluminium - inox, for good reason. I think it worth the price, due to be a well-known brand and safety is paramount. This item has good safety features, which is very important.
