An engaging.but also annoying analysis
Not as useful as his Joni Mitchell book in that it breaks the narrative into thematic sections and therefore makes it more difficult to follow chronologically. I enjoyed it in spite of that. The listening list is interesting and may be a guide to adding some tunes to my iPod.

Bob Dylan: Like a complete unknown
My son in law is a huge fan of Bob Dylan and when this came out I read a review and gave it as a Christmas gift. He was surprised and commented on what a good read it is.

I found the material disorganised. Did not like the unchronological style.
The book was hard to read because it was not in chronological order. I was reading it in kindle form over several devices. Some of the devices were not working well and it was very hard to find my place once lost because the same events were referred to at more than one place in the book. Ultimately my level of engagement fell and I abandoned the book unfinished.

In the words of Captain Kurtz: The horror....the horror.
I've just finished reading the Dylan book. I'll never forget it, because it was shear torment. When I finished reading, I felt like I had been liberated from a POW camp. The book is superfluous, overzealous, pedantic drivel. It makes me think of the scene in the film, Being John Malkovich where his brain invaders are thrown into a ditch by the side of a highway. I'm delighted i was capable of doing the same thing with this pseudo-intellectual nonsense. Admittedly, that is littering to the Nth degree, but I was desperate. It got to a point that I thought Dylan was unworthy on his Nobel Prize for Literature. Fortunately, all I had to do to escape the quagmire I had fallen into, was to get up off of my couch and slip a Dylan CD into my sound system. It was a profound relief, something akin to the liberation of one's bowels from constipation. "Weltschmerz"? Really?
