Great Information to help plan my next trip to Nepal!
I spent 2 months in Nepal. I trekked the 3 passes plus Tesi Lapcha. I also trekked part of the lower section and spent more time around Pokhara. My time there was amazing. The Great Himalayan Trail is truly epic. I found this book very informative to help me plan my next adventure there. This book brings back found memories and makes me want to go back even more than I do already.

A wonderful book
A book that looks behind the usual Nepali scenes and illuminates the everyday life of people on the mountain; without sugarcoating, but with a lot of empathy. Too often, Nepal is only mentioned in tandem with increasingly crazy alpine records. This may move people in the Western world. But what motivates the people in Nepal, the locals? Even far away from Mount Everest or Annapurna? With his pictures, the author not only shows the extraordinary beauty of the landscape, but also the everyday challenges - especially climate change and migration of the young population.“The Great Himalaya Trail” is not a running book, it is not a travel guide; no, it is an inventory that immerses the reader in a region that, like its inhabitants, is more threatened than ever. And that makes it more than a travel guide. Where the information section provides all the information that those interested need to start their own adventure. A book for planning - a book for dreaming.

A book not just for hikers, but a book for all Nepal enthusiasts!
As a mountain lover, the title made me curious. And so I expected more of an adventure book. But then I was so positively surprised. Although the author travels "faster" than many hikers, he takes time for the people he meets along the way, as well as for the culture and religion of the mountain regions. And so for me this book is like a current inventory of the Himalayas in the 21st century. Climate change, the threat of China and the migration of the young generation into the valleys and to Kathmandu are highlighted. It is a great book that reflects Nepal and the Himalayas in a contemporary light. With photos that tell stories and are remembered.

A thoroughly enjoyable and fascinating read with amazing photographs
This book intricately weaves together a narrative that not only showcases the breathtaking landscapes but also delves into the rich tapestry of cultures along the way. Accompanied with an amazing sport accomplishment, the author threads an environmental critical analysis of the monumental Himalayas in modern times. The stunning photographs peppered throughout the book, capture the raw beauty of this area of the world. Awe-inspiring, uplifting, alluring, 5 stars and a two thumbs ups rating from me. Fantastic!!
