Food Wars: Second Plate

This is one of the rare cases where the second season of an anime series surpasses the original. The fact that the original was so good makes this really impressive.This covers the finals of the Fall Selection competition (we saw the preliminaries at the end of the first season), followed by two brief internships of Soma in real restaurants. If you enjoyed the first season, you won't want to miss these episodes.I'll be waiting as fast as I can for the third season (oddly, there appear to be TWO third seasons to this series!).

Was a little disappointed that this season was only half the length of the first, however this season still managed to deliver an amazing dish (pun intended). It falls a little short of the first season (imo) --- altho that's not exactly a negative as the first season was absolutely stellar --- but it continues right where season 1 left off and continues the hype right away!! One thing that bothered me was that there were some things that were slightly altered (plot related so I won't spoil) to allow for the story to move forward in the direction they wanted to push it... However even including that I wouldn't knock off any points as it just rolls with the punches and ends so great that I'm constantly refreshing my browser in hopes of an announcement for season 3 to be dubbed!

My only short coming with this season is that it is only 13 episodes. I love the animation for the opening and closing, as well as the music. The food is beautiful and well drawn. This is a wonderful story of self discovery. Soma and his friends loss and then they dust themselves out and try to become better then they were before.

The package came faster then I expected no dents or marks on the case

Love this show I would pay full price for it. I like sci fi most but this made me like at this kind of show the people in it the art the dialogue all top in my book just watch the first episode and you know way it lasted for 3 seasons with a fourth one coming

Food Wars Season 2 is definitely a different change of pace from season 1. It picks up right at the end of season 1 with the final 8 of the Fall Selection. It doesn't venture out as much as season 1, and the spotlight here is solely on Soma Yukihira. It doesn't miss a beat, and you will be treated to some awesome battles and sleek animation.The blu-ray release itself is pretty standard. Nothing crazy about the packaging or set. Picture and sound quality is amazing. Definitely one of the better looking anime that is currently running.Food Wars Season 2 blu-ray is a 5 out of 5. If you haven't seen the show, you must check it out. The blu-ray is a must own for anime and Shokugeki fans!

And the 2nd plate is as scrumptious as the 1st plate! The students at school are cooking up a storm on & off campus. I particularly like the Food Wargasims that are the Judges reactions to students dishes. Am looking forward to the full course Dinner! 3&4th plates due this year.

I own this and the second plate and am currently waiting for the third plate to be released on Blu Ray Lol come on sentai film works don’t keep me waiting

Graet dvd animes grate

This is great series. The story is a bit over the top but that makes this anime series all the more charming.Overall the cast is fantastic and I like the direction they've taken with the majority of the characters in the English dub. The only issue I have is with Erina's interpretation. It wasn't good. I thought I would get used to it as I watched more episodes but it only got worse. In fact, I skip/fast forward anytime I know Erina's got dialogue. This is not to knock the voice actor who played her because this work is a collaborative effort. The direction this character took seems like a caricature of an cartoon character. If that's sounds like an over-the-top redundancy, so be it. That's what happened.When I first got introduced to Erina's character in the subtitled version, I got the impression that Erina was a spoiled, pampered child. But as I watched more of her introductory episode, I found out more about her upbringing. The Erina in that verison reminded me more of the majority of the antagonists in the movie Cruel Intentions. That was my initial impression of the Erina character. Then I got the English dub verison. That's quite a direction to take a character.Pedigree, class, old money doesn't sound or behave like that. It just doesn't. The English dub of the Erina character says more about the crew who worked on the dub than it does Erina herself. It takes me right out.All that said this shouldn't deter anyone from picking this series up. Like I said before, the story is charming. It's fun and funny. And overall the cast & direction is great. It's that strong that's why I couldn't give it less than 4 stars.The dvd arrived on time (or maybe even earlier. I can't remember. It was a while ago). The seller was prompt. No issues.

Love this series, bought Food wars season 1 and now received my pre-order for season 2 (The Second Plate). The picture has an excellent 1080p Blu-ray quality but the English Dub has lots of room for improvement, not as bad as season 1 (Japanese rural fishing village speaking with Texas accents and the main female bad girl character with a Californian accent) ) but at least the Japanese audio is available with English subtitles, you can then compare the two (the English Dub has been Americanized). Season two is true "Food Wars" less about the characters and more about competition and consequences. Hope to see season 3 when it's released.
