The Wizard of the Kremlin

Russian Roulette
Guiliano Da Empoli has written a fascinating account that blends facts with fiction, duly embellished with sharp insights and deep reflections on power, politics, media, culture, technology and the men and a woman who are at the centre of events that have shaped Russia's journey in the first quarter of twenty-first century. In less than 300 pages, the book sweeps through twenty-five years of Russia's journey - from the decline of Yeltsin and emergence of Putin to the ongoing Ukraine conflict with unwavering focus on the modern Czar of Russia. Strongly recommend this quick paced, easy read, reflective and meditative account of power, well translated from the original French.

A Star Spellbinder
Yes, a book to recommend. A tale for now. Written with the blood-red ink of the past seeping onto pages - a wan bloodlessness of a mechanical future there too. Worrying. Nonetheless, there are amusing and touching mystic momnts, and hopeful one too. Enchanting, revealing, worth reading.

The world from Russia’s eyes
The book reads to me a bit like Ayn Rand, but for Putin’s regime, and weaving a narrative through real recent events. An interesting take really, although the preachy tone grew old rather quickly for me.

Se lee con gusto
Se lee con gusto y la calidad de la investigación es altísima pero no creo que valga la nominación del Prix Goncourt….
