Cheap at three times the Price
These three films capture Price's tongue in cheek wit and charismatic persona well. House on Haunted Hill is rightly one of his most celebrated films, and the irony and surprising twists mean it has aged well and can still be enjoyed by the Saw horror generation. Five diverse characters take up Price's challenge to spend the night in a haunted house and win a fortune. They all need the money, even though numerous people have died there in mysterious circumstances, and so no matter who dies and no matter how creepy things get, they must stay. It's best not to say anything more about the story as twist is piled on top of twist and the horror runs alongside the growing mystery of just what is going on. This is one of those horror films where the very low budget actually adds to its appeal.Less successful is The Bat, which again is a very low budget mixture of horror and mystery. Price kills an embezzler and seeks to lay claim to the stolen money, which is to be found at the home of the embezzler's lodger, who is a mystery writer. But a mysterious killer is on the loose and he is looking to get to the money first. Price adds some class to the hokum in a role that is smaller than it perhaps should have been as his is the most interesting part of a story in which in truth it's a bit hard to care about the identity of the mystery 'Bat' killer.Shock is an oddity and an unexpected delight. It was made in the 1940s before Price became linked with horror tales and is a straight piece of mystery melodrama. Price plays a psychiatrist and Janet is the sole witness to him murdering his wife. She is shocked into becoming catatonic and so Price is called in to help her. With the aid of his wickedly evil nurse girlfriend, who was the cause of the argument with his wife, he decides to keep Janet drugged to stop her talking, but can Janet's soldier husband return in time to save her? There's little in the way of twists or plot development, but the leads play their parts well, especially the nasty nurse, and it tries to be artful with good direction. Sadly after creating an intriguing situation filled with interesting characters the story in the second half fails to deliver everything it could have done. That aside, this largely forgotten film is worth seeing.

Vintage Vince!
I am a HUGE Vincent Price fan and am currently collecting his films on DVD - my video recorder has packed up so I miss watching my old films. This small boxed set is very cheap so I didn't expect it to contain some of the classics, but these films are very dated. I am certainly not disappointed but they are not my favourite films - although they are enjoyable from a vintage/nostalgic point of view. As a true fan I am happy, but for those who are into the films featuring Vince's better known characters (ie: Dr Phibes) this box set would be disappointing.

Good Selection
I really like this collection series of Vincent Price. It's got some of his classic, horror and Gothic films that I love. As much as I love Diary of a Madman and Tower of London, I encourage people to collect the series, not only this one.

Price Collection continues.
I don't understand the complaints since they don't have anything to do with the films in the collection. I love Cry of the Banshee. It is one of the best non Corman Poe films made. Hessler is a fine director and his films show that he was inventive with small budgets. The other films are rare to find in such great shape as they are in this collection. Master of the World is another example of Price doing Jules Verne Proud as Capt. Rober a man who would destroy the world to save it. Charles Bronson does the honor as the hero in the movie. Both films loaded with extras and excellent commentary.Return of the Fly was real fun to watch with Brett Halsley's commentary. Diary of a Madman another Price movie not seen as much has an excellent commentary by Steve Haberman. Fun to watchTower Of London Price did two different versions of this tale one in the 30s with Karloff and Rathbone and here for the Corman brothers the first he is a victim of Rathbones crazy hump backed king in the Corman version he is the King and carries the film. AN evebibg with Edgar Allen Poe is a tv show with Price reciting from the works of Poe. Enjoyable collection.

3 TOP Filme
Trotzdem. 5 Sterne
