Replacing old key fob
I used this to replace my old key fob and swapped the PCB and actual key parts out for the original. After some miner adjustments and filing I managed to get it to work. It’s good enough but not a perfect replacement.

Key fob
My key-fob broke but the key itself was undamaged. I bought this replacement. It's not the highest of quality, but it's much cheaper than most places wanted for replacing the fob. It took some patience and bad words, but I put the key in the new fob and it came with some instructions to program it to my car (but I ended up using youtube for that.)I am very happy with the key fob, but I do have to be a little more gentle with it than I did with my old one that came with the car. Other than that it was a very affordable replacement and I am happy with it. Do some research on how to program it to your vehicle and how to take this apart to put your key in if that is your intention. With a couple YouTube videos you can do this as well. You just need some patience

Key does not fit from old fob
This is the second attempt to try and replace my fobIts easy enough to get the new and the old fobs open - you can youtube to see how to do itThe circuit board fits fine, the buttons line upbutwhen you put the cut key in from the old fob - the pins do not fit properly - you cannot drill them eitherBecause the key pins do not fit it makes it so the button does nothing when pushed. - no spring actionYou can tighten the spring in so the key is not sticking out - but to get the key out you have to manually push on the top and pull it uporyou can leave the key out and you can push it in but it will not lock and will stay openYou have to put the key in the ignition with the correct side up otherwise it hangs down and can cause the car to shut off -- kinda dangerous I suppose -To get a fob key cut though is going to cost over $150 at a dealer - and it comes with the fobfor my Buick it did not work - I will just have to pull the key out when needed and hope I always insert it properly into the ignitionWaste of money

If you plan to DIY and swap your key to fix broken buttons, it's possible but not simple.
Where I live I was unable to easily find a place that would cut this key for me. For the price it was worth trying to swap the guts so that's what I did. It wasn't the easiest process in the world, but it did work just fine. The key popped open fine, had to pay close attention to the spring inside, so take it apart carefully and pay attention. There are some youtubes out there that show how to disassemble/reassemble the key if you get lost. The transmitter board was exactly the same as the one in my original key, so I just swapped it. The key though had issues due to a difference in the flip blade head of the key. The groves of my original didn't line up exactly right preventing the button from working. There is a roll pin locking the key into the head and I was able to use some watch repair tools I have to push the roll pin out and swap the key blade with my original. Since I used the original remote, I did not use the programing features. Frustrating process but in the end I got what I wanted and didn't have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for it.

Cant put the old key in to this fob. You have to get this new one cut
Does not fit with a 2014 chevy sonic. The key placement in this fob is off just enough to not work with my current cut key. If you are looking to get this key cut. It would be great but if you are looking just to replace the buttons and keep your old key, this did not work for me.
