This used to be a five star review
Until I realized that on Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven the version of "Dog End of a Day Gone By" isn't the "remix" version that anyone who grew up listening to the American version of the cassette will know and love and to not include this version is an absolute travesty. It's just a better version, mostly because of the guitar sound which is louder and more distorted and there was NO reason that version couldn't be included on this set, there is plenty of room on the "Earth Sun Moon" disc for more content.European listeners and possibly owners of the original vinyl won't notice any difference but to me it's a glaring omission.***what follows is my original review****If this was the pre-file sharing days this LIMITED EDITION box set would have sold out a long time ago. If you had told me back in the $20 CD days I'd be able to get this much L&R music for such a low price I would have said you were stealing it or something.I can't believe some people are complaining about the packaging, I mean I respect their opinions but COME ON man!Ok it IS a no frills box set but if you have purchased any of the "Classic Albums Collections" box set that feature Columbia affiliated artists like I have (and by the way I think those are a great bargain as well) then you know that this, while being "no frills" is a cut above those. On those sets you get a "glossy box" filled with slipcases, no liner notes and, even though as I stated I think those a great value too, those sets seem to have used lesser ink for printing the LP cover replica slipcases. Not so with this set! The colors are very vibrant. Not only that but instead of just a "glossy" slip box you get a nice box that opens and closes. You also get a booklet with recording credits and while it doesn't contain extensive liner notes or some long essay it does give you the essential info. If you want more info and writings on the band you have the internet!Okay so that's the packaging. I'm assuming you have heard Love and Rockets before if you are here but if you haven't you should head over to Spotify and check them out. A truly "alternative" trio that consisted of all but one member of the legendary UK band Bauhaus.Love and Rockets mixed synth, punk, pop, psychedelia and a bunch of other styles to create their own unique musical stew that while retaining it's 80's influence still sounds very fresh and exciting. This set includes their first four (and arguably their best albums) ALL remastered ALL with bonus tracks plus a bonus fifth disc of rarities.Of course with a set like this there will always something that someone somewhere wishes had been included and I myself am a little mystified as to why all the extra space on the "EARTH SUN MOON" disc was utilized better but that's a minor complaint.I got this off an Amazon seller for $22 with shipping and could have gotten it cheaper if I wanted to use a seller with slower shipping but what can say? I was Excited!!Anyway, I've never gotten so much for my money, even with the aforementioned "Original Album Classics" you don't always get remastered albums so this really couldn't be better in that respect. Some people might say a box set is meant for people who are already a fan of the band and most of the time that would be true but if you have heard ANYTHING off ANY of these albums and liked it, you will not be sorry you purchased this box set.For pete's sake you couldn't buy the stupid mp3's for this price!!!below is the track listing for the entire box set, now what are you waiting for?-- Seventh Dream Of Teenage Heaven -- (CD 1)If There's A Heaven AboveA Private FutureThe Dog - End Of The Day Gone ByThe GameSeventh Dream Of Teenage HeavenHaunted When The Minutes DragSaudadeBonus TracksBall Of Confusion (UK Mix)Inside The OutsideIf There's A Heaven Above (12" Mix)God And Mr. SmithHaunted When The Minutes Drag (USA Edit)If There's A Heaven Above (Canada Mix)-- Express -- (CD 2)It Could Be SunshineKundalini ExpressAll In My MindLife In LaralayYin And Yang (The Flowerpot Man)Love MeAll In My Mind (Accoustic Version)An American DreamBonus TracksAngels And DevilsHolidy On The MoonLucifer SamB-Side No. 1B-Side No. 2Yin And Yang (The Flowerpot Man) (Remix)Ball Of Confusion (USA Mix)-- Earth . Great box set/reissue!
I picked up this box set primarily for the additional CD that had material I didn't already have. There were a few remixes from the original albums/CDs that I didn't have as well, and of course all the CDs have been digitally re-mastered, but I really didn't think that much about it at the time. I have all of Love & Rockets' original US CD releases from the 80's and 90's, so I figured most of the reissues in the box set would be simply that; that the original tracks were just re-mastered and cleaned up to enhance audio quality. In particular, I thought that the reissue of 'Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven' would more or less be identical to original CD release which I already owned; it looked that way from the track listing. However to my pleasant surprise, this isn't the case; none of the tracks included on the 4 box set album CDs are identical to the original CD releases; on average each track is about 30 seconds longer than the 'original' version, which means these are all extended track versions of the original CDs. So that means if you own the originals CDs, if you purchase this box set you are getting 'alternate' versions of all the tracks, making this set that much more worth it.So if you are a Love & Rockets fan, and are a completest, I highly recommend this box set.

A Good Collection
First off, the missing artwork left me feeling a bit disappointed. As a longtime fan of this band, I already had their first four albums on cd, including the expanded remasters of Seventh Dream of Teenage Heaven, Express, and Love And Rockets. Disc 5 is where the added expense of adding this to your collection comes into play. Not only are a number of b-sides available on cd for the first time, but some live material that I have not come across before as well. Of the first four lps, the only one that does not come with added bonus material that the initial release (on cd anyway) is Earth Sun Moon. But that is a small oversight as the b-sides from the singles from that lp show up on the Assorted disc. The remastering is excellent (something I can rarely say for other remastered discs from other bands) and the bonus material is worthwhile. However, the treasure of this collection is the Assorted disc. In addition to many b-sides showing up on cd for the first time is the song Wake Up. I have only encountered this song once before, as part of the encore when they were on tour for Love And Rockets (complete with Daniel Ash in a teddy, black nylons, and black high-heels!). Most of the b-sides appear on cd for the first time. The live material sounds as though it was recorded in a hall with poor acoustics, but that is more than made up for by the band's energy.

Whew! What A Fantastic Boxset!
Great five disc set by Love and Rockets. Some really great tunes are to be found among these discs such as "Seventh Dream of A Teenage Heaven", "Dog End Of A Day Gone By", "It Could Be Sunshine". "Love Me", "Mirror People", "NO New Tale To Tell", "An American Dream", Lucifer Sam" and "Haunted When The Minutes Drag". The albums are Seventh Dream Of A Teenage Heaven, Express, Earth Sun Moon, Love and Rockets and Assorted!. Whew! What a fantastic boxset! Need I say more?

This is a Nice Remastered + Extras Box Set
This is a really nice set with all of their classic albums (minus the 2 newer ones 1. FA 2. Lift) which while i liked FA, i really didn't get into Lift that much. If you're a long time fan or newer fan this box set is nice for several reasons...one, they are remastered and two, there are tons of extras on each album CD and ALSO one extra CD with all new material taken from these sessions. I really like these box sets for the music and not the sleeve notes. If your looking for sleeve notes then i suggest you purchase them separately, they are not in this box set but it does include it's own sleeve note for the box set, not a detailed one though...just what's in the box. Great box set for the older fan and newer fan alike.

Love & Rockets
Having bought everything by Bauhaus and seen them loads of times, the natural progression was to give Tones and L&R a look.... everything they released was bought listened to and loved! Two divorces later, my record collection scattered to the four winds, blah, blahAll Bauhaus vinyl and cd's made it past the gate-keeper of divorce but ToT and L&R stuff was lost in the endless pit of annoyance!Love & Rockets was seen on the 'magic-electronic-mangle' and memories crept back, I bought this box-set put the first disc on and everything flooded back. Genius, Amazing, Avant Garde, AHEAD OF ITS TIME.Perfect.

Pure genius.
One of the best bands of all time. I loved Bauhaus but without Pete Murphy and with their own style the other 3 actually improved. The first 3 albums each have their own vibe but are all magnificent on their own, 5*+ with a slight decrease on the 4th album as they started to become too Americanised (IMO). Has it's great moments still but less of a cohesive and consistent collection. The absent later albums are weaker for completists only. The 5th bonus album here is great for us fans especially The Bubblemen but not an album for the uninitiated.

A recent convert writes
Back in the day I had only heard a couple of LAR tunes and was sort of interested, though the other night my wife dug out an ancient Beggars Banquet compilation LP which included an LAR track, needless to say I was left feeling like I'd missed something. Low and behold on this wonderful site there is this very reasonably priced boxset in which EVERY TRACK IS A MIND BLOWING HIT . Go on treat youself!

Exceeds Expectations
I LOOOOOOOOVE the company who is putting these together!! I bought the Peter Murphy kit and it well exceeded expectations with extras and demos and all remastered. Based on that I then went for his old band Bauhaus...and again it exceeded expectations. So naturally, I went for the band after he left; Love and Rockets. Got here in amazing time and the 5 discs are on rotation as I write this. The concept behind these series of sets is brilliant. Thank You!!

Who’s still listening to Love and Rockets in 2019?
One of my all time favourite bands. I found this to be the perfect gift for my 2019 Christmas time. Amazon UK dispatched it quickly and safely and I am enjoying every bit rate on it.
