Q: Do I have to screw this into the top of my door. I have a champion gun safe and I'm just not sure if that's going to damage the internals to the door

I had to drill 2 small pilot holes in the top of the inside of the door, then I used self tapping sheet metal screws to secure the rack. The screws were about 1/2" l9ng as i recall, so they wouldnt come anywhere near the working internals in the door. Mine is a Browning safe, but I would think the same be true for most any gub safe.

Q: Coukd this be altered to work on a regular residential door?

Probably but the first issue I can think of is clearance on the top of the door in to the frame. The brackets are ~1/8" thick and the self-tapping screws probably bring the height to ~1/4". So you'd need to either counter sink the rack in to the door or create relief in the door frame.

Q: will it fit on a browning gun safe... i'm concerned if it will still allow door to close
